Four NSD in a row :T :T but that will all change tomorrow as i'm out of fruit/veg/milk/bread. I do have a well stocked freezer and cupboards though.
Thanks Bobbykins for the link to that thread. I have 90% of the stuff in cupboards so will give it a go on your recommendation :jThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -

Nice free food at the rugy btw. Free food is always very tasty I think.
The Penines are beautiful.....lucky you. But of course it's here in Wales that we have the best rugby team
Thanks Fedupnow! Sadly a) the food was less than tasty - had to keep reminding myself that it was FREE
& b) the team lost....
BTW can't argue with you there, however it is not the same rugby....ours is the 'other code' but DH is Welsh so both codes are appreciated here!
Did have an NSD yesterday but am torn today - have a dental appt but pass a v. large Asda on the way. Keep reading about the very cheap dried fruit (11p currants??) but saw no evidence of these when I was there the other day, just the 42p SP sort?? Anyone know if I dreamt it or is it wishful thinking?
Reason for needing currants - ran out when making Chorley cakes yesterday. Got home & had cup of tea & ate some as consolation, MUCH better than the treacle tart on offer at the game - even if it was free!
Recipe for chorley cakes coming in another post for those that asked for it...todays dinner will be HM salmon & butternut squash balti, HM lentil dhal & HM onion bhajis - yes, it's Saturday night curry night here!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Morning All fellow Grocery Challengers
I decided to go shopping yesterday to Mr M's. Got F&V, milk, yogs, bacon, value juice and dishcloths and spent £17.96. I've menu planned until next Thursday so I shouldn't need to go to the shops again until at least Friday. DD will be back at playschool next week so I'm gonna have to have amazing will power to stay out of Tesco to see if there are any whoopsies. DD protests when we go into a supermarket as we go so often but if she ain't there she can't complain
Hope everyone has a nice weekend0 -
I had a bit of a lapse last night, I was shattered from decluttering and cleaning the house and so we had a takeaway curry! That's £27 off the food budget!
The freezer contents have gone to the MiL, so I have got to get the meal planning in action. I made a list of everything and its all in numbered bags so I can send OH over there to collect whatever we need.
The small fridge from eBay is lovely - but fairly chocka block at the moment! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hiya Sashanut,
I kid you not, they were on rollback to 22p for 500g for a month, rollback is meant to be a permanent price drop according to the website, but now they've put them back up!
I reckon it's the power of MSE and someone in asda HQ must've realised the loophole!
Hope your chorley cakes end up lovely anyway.

You can go the rod and line with all the bells and wistles etc but mackrel are stupid fish and will chase anything bright andsilvery. I used a line with 6 hooks on and tied bits of tinfoli to the hooks. Cast into water and then reel the line in slowly. The mackrel think the tin foil is sprats and bite easily. For six hooks you can easily get 5 fish at a time.
Thanks for that.
I will give it a go. DS1 has agreed to go with me so I don't look like a total idiot (not on my own anyway). Do you need a special rod for sea fishing? DS1 has a rod that he used when he used to go fishing at the canal. Would that do?Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Someone asked for this recipe (sorry I cant remember who it was, and I cant find the post), so here it is. Sorry its a bit late.
PASTRY
175g/6oz plain flour
85g/3oz butter (cut into cubes)
2tbsp water (I ended up using about 5 tbsp water)
Add the butter to the flour, and using your fingers, mix thogether until it resembles breadcrumbs. The add water, and using a knife, mix together until it binds.
TART FILLING
5 eggs
4 rashers streaky bacon chopped
1 large leek chopped
25g/1oz butter
25g/1oz plain flour
300ml milk
2tsp ready made mustard
50g/2oz chedder grated
preheat oven to 200C/GM6/Fan 180. On an floured surface, roll our pastry to a 28cm/1 inch circle. Use to line a 23cm/9 inch flan tin and trim off the excess. Chill the case for 15 mins, then bake blind for 15 mins.
meanwhile, hard boil 2 eggs for 8 mins. Cool then peel and chop. Dry fry the bacon and leek for 3 mins until the bacon is crispy. Put the butter, flour and milk into a small pan. Bring slowly to the boil whisking until thickened. Simmer for 2 mins. Stir in the mustard.
Scatter the leek, bacon and chopped egg over the pastry. Beat the remaining eggs into the sauce and season. Pour into the case, add the cheese and bake for 40 mins until puffed and golden.
We really liked this, and there is some left over too which I have frozen for another day (just hope it freezes well).
Last night, DH went to Asda to get potatoes and cereal. He spent £6.66:eek: (I hate that number), on 2 big bags of potatoes, and 2 boxes of cereals.
So will add that to my sig in a mo.
Hopefully the only thing I will need to buy within the next 3-4 days will be milk. My total is going up too fast, and at this rate, I will be over my budget before you know it.
