Bah, i'm grumpy with the co-op! Just went to update my sig with my spend yesterday. I've been really good lately, taking my list to the shops and only buying what i need. However the co-op had BOGOF on Richmonds thick sausages which are the only kind i like, so i thought what the hell, i'll pop them in the freezer, make a casserole next week etc. Just checked my receipt and they have charged me for both:mad: Would never have bought them at full price! Suppose itll teach me to check my receipts in future:rolleyes:

Hi all! Hope everyone's doing okay, I haven't had time to keep up on here so far this month
We've done our monthly Lidl shop which was about £45 and I've just been to the market for lots of fruit and veg bargains - a horse sack of carrots for £2 and a massive box of mushrooms for £1.99 :T I'm right in thinking I can freeze mushrooms aren't I? Do I just chop them up or do I need to cook them first?
I'll work out me sums and update my sig later, and will also try to keep up with you all! Hope April's going well for you, off to read a few pages back at leastx
Ooh gardening talk, goody - I was very excited yesterday as we planted our first seeds, some starting off indoors, some straight out in veg patch! :j I keep checking them every 5 mins to see if they've sprouted yet :rotfl:We're trying broccoli, 2 lettuce, spinach, mange tout, peas, leeks, courgettes, basil so far, basically because those were the seeds in the shop!We cleared a bit more space in the garden yesterday so I'm trying to persuade OH we need to squeeze a couple more ickle veg patches in
We have a circular lawn which would be great but OH is definitely having none of that! I'm also working on getting a couple of chickens...;)

LOL, it's quite funny reading backwards through the pages and trying to work out what people are talking about, like someone about to drink the contents of their rolling pin :rotfl:As soon as I come back on here I always wonder why I haven't been on sooner, always some great stuff! *must re-prioritise GC thread*
Does anyone else have trouble keeping up with all their threads, and have any tips on how to manage it? If only there wasn't such great advice on so many different things...;)The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Well I need to do some justifying to myself...
I have majorly over spent this week with shopping! £80! when normally I try to stick to round £50 a week since starting the GC last month... But it is my birthday on tuesday so I did kind of buy a bottle of Baileys and lots of cake making stuff as I have to do the cake thing on Thursday when I go back... but OMG! £80.. how am I going to cut down for the rest of the month so I don't completely over spend :S you know when even though you stick pretty much to your list some how you still spend more than it should be... oh I feel so naughtyI don't know if I will ever be as good as some of you on here...
Muddling through debt but can't see any light at the end of the tunnel??!!0 -
Seem to have lost the run of myself completely this month...another €17.97 gone this morning, bringing my total to €205.76...what am I thinking of??
Good luck to all

I have pages and pages to catch up with on here!
1 x bag of sugar and a 1st Class stamp. I know that isn't technically groceries but I count everything from toiloetries to cleaning products, so stamps get added in too. I only post a handful of cards a year.
Total spend £1.14, signature updated.
Regarding the seeds, my pepper seeds took weeks to sprout but are now catching up with the tomatoes. The discounted supermarket herbs are growing well - chopped loads of coriander for carrot & coriander soup, which is in the slow cooker now. Chives doing well, mint doing well, still no signs of the garlic chive seeds sprouting and I still haven't planted the onions or potatoes.
Hope everyone is doing well and I WILL catch up with this thread at some point.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

£95.65 so far spent. Did the silly thing of taking the boys with me shopping last night. That actually does include about £8 worth of gardening stuff actually so not too bad, couldn't be bothered to seperate it from the receipt. Half term for 2 weeks here so can see that crippling the budget a little. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Bails, seems like our mornings were very similar. I bought a 4lb box of open flat mushrooms for £3 this morning (OH loves mushrooms) and a 25kg sack of potatoes for £5.95 - cheapest I've found so far.
I have previously just sliced mushrooms and frozen them, and then just added to cooking/pies/pizza tops etc.
I admit to struggling to keep up with all the threads I have subscribed to, I sometimes have to 'skim read' just to catch up. I do log on at least once a day and still find it difficult. I've got a 12 day holiday coming up end of July/beg of Aug - really not sure how I will 'recover' from that - it will probably take a whole day on here :rotfl:
I also bought 6 peppers for £1, does anyone know if these can be sliced and frozen for use in cooking/pizza tops etc? Or, do they need to be blanched first.
I've only got £25 to spend for the rest of the month if I am to stay within my new budget limit of £200. Should be possible as the freezer is fit to burst and so are the cupboards, but I will need to buy milk and some more F&V.
