Moniker - How do you find the soapnuts with the hard water? How many do you use for a wash?

Hmm - i really think I will fail this months GC

    £20 on Milk
    £27.60 Asda
    £10.56 Wilkinson
    £46.71 Tesco

This leaves me with about £20 left to last the month. HOWEVER, I did go to Tesco with a monthly meal plan (will post it later), and hopefully bought all the shopping I need for it (apart from fresh veg)

So, not doing so well so far :o

well, i'm feeling really pleased with myself as i'm well within my budget for my first week :D mind you, both freezers were chocka-full!!! i don't need anything else now till Mon when i start my new week with money

gonna put the £20 i've saved into my savings jar :D:D

thank you SO much everyone for all your help and inspiration xx
  • Total spend is creeping up and this weeks main food will come out of holiday spend so should keep nearer to £200 really. Am planning to take lots of stuff with me and have been baking. Mixed results. Hot cross buns ok bread rolls burnt and now cant be bothered with muffins or biscuits.

Lots to do today so will do the urgent bits left and not stress over the rest.

    Hi All,

Another trip to asda last night has me with not much left till end of June, but I've made 55 evening meals already, and all the sandwiches for 2 months. ( I work 6.5 days a week in uni term time, so I like to get ahead of myself before then!- I'm off at the mo...)

    Todays batch cooking included,

4 loaves of bread, 2 already turned into sarnies,

HM Lemon ice cream (20 servings worth for £1.90, Billy bargain or what?:j)

    4 portions of tomato dahl

    houmous for sarnies

my challenge looks scary from my sig, but I think I can do it:D

gonna make some lentil and bacon casserole tomorrow, a huge batch.

Keep up the hard work folks, it's inspiring being a part of it all with you ;)

    Weezl x

    xx

They work fine as far as I can tell, though I have only used each batch once I didn't know until today that they could be used up to 4 times! I have also been adding conditioner - only because I had some to use up. However, I have a load of towels etc in overnight and am not using conditioner to see how it goes - I'll let you know. I usually use 6-8 half shells or pieces per wash load.

As for the cleanliness of the wash - most things don't look that differerent from using conventional detergent especially the coloured stuff. Whites are not as bright though as I said in my previous post.

I do think they are better than the washball I also tried from Lakeland a while back (it was a plastic ball with some sort of pellets inside which ionised the water). The soap nuts definitely seem to have a cleaner and fresher finish.
