I forgot I have to pick up a set of pots at Tesco today that I ordered from Tesco Direct. This will be a test of strength... who am I kidding I,ll prob spend something, I,m sooo weak. I,m taking a nice salmon steak out of the freezer for my tea tonight, and will freeze up the spag bol I made last night, except one portion. The son came over unexpectedly last night, just around tea-time too, and helped me eat the mince & totties, he wasnt very hungry though so just had two dinners worth, dont know where he puts it! That left me one portion to stick in the fridge so that's my menu for the next few days.
P.S. Thanks Bargain Rzl you just reminded me I have a pack of Italian meats a ball of Mozzerella and a jar of olives to dispose of, sounds like a nice lunch for me today. Will put on my Learn Italian cd,s and perhaps have a wee glass of red with it thus educating the mind and the pallet. The things I do in the name of self improvement.

i want to get a rhubarb plant had one years ago but hubby stood some slabs where it was growing (during the winter whe it had died down) it never reappeared. hes even managed to kill a butterfly bush!!!!!

it will be whatevers left in the veg tray with quorn chunks and mash tonight, i going to be really good next week and bake a batch of meatless mince 'meat'pies, im fed up of buying the ready made ones at an extortant price has anyone got any pointers for me. do i cook the filling let it go cold then put that in raw pasty and freeze to cook from frozen or is their another way of doing it. we usually get the linda Mc ones for vegan dd, looking at them it seems to be mince, onion and gravy but i could add mushroom.

unless anyone has a vegan 'meat' pie recipie.

i ready want to start batch baking, im improving on cakes and biscuits and have virtually stopped buying those now. hm are nicer anyway and you know whats in them. but im not vfry good on main courses. i make a pizza from scratch at least once a week but other meals mainly consist of veggie or vegan mince or chunks mixed with veg in gravy and served as sheperds pie or with spuds.
i used to do a lot of hm lasagne but since dd and her vegan bf seem to be eating tea with us more often ive shelved that because of the need for cheese sauce.

    Hi everyone.

Im going to attempt Twinks Hobnobs today bu ive only got brown or caster sugar, could I use any of that?

As you can tell, im absolutely useless at this baking lark although I have made SW bluberry muffins, SW chocolate cake ( in microwave) and SW carrot cake before.

    Thanks to all.

Mrs-moneypenny - When I make my own lasagne I use cottage cheese instead of a cheese sauce, Ive been making them like this for years. Not sure if this would help (can vegans have cottage cheese:confused: )

When I made this recipe I used half caster sugar and half brown sugar. I didn't like them very much (sorry) so maybe the sugar makes the difference. But everyone else said they were yummy - maybe they were being polite?

Mrs Money-penny, it's really hard to kill rhubarb, if it's easy I reckon you could pick up the slab and it will come back to life

if not, find someome else who has one and split it, we did this with ours and gave half to my mother and they're both fine. you can buy them, but I'd say this is the best option (splitting) as the best rhubarb is the old stuff and I don't know how long our rhubarb was there, we inherited it when we moved in and it's been dug up from the ground, split and repotted and it's fine

    :D :rotfl:

It is slightly galling that these are the sort of items I would normally go to Aldi for, but have promised my mum a trip to Borough Market in the morning (nice and early, for breakfast) so it will cost twice the price if not more :o However I see it as being something to do for the morning, as well as buying stuff to eat, so it then becomes better value (better value than a morning sightseeing in Aldi, anyway :D)
