Hi bigmumma - I am attempting to copy and paste this as I had posted it last month - here goes

Here is the recipe I use for ham and cheese muffins - they are great for snacks, packed lunches, storing and freezing. Tana Ramsey family kitchen cookbook - don't have the book, I downloaded the recipe from ITV 'goodmorning' website a few years ago
    10 1/2 oz SR flour
    1/2 tsp mustard powder
    1/2 tsp paprika
    3oz butter
6 slices honey roast ham - chopped
6 1/2 oz mature chedder cheese
    1 egg beaten
    9fl oz milk
grated parmesan to sprinkle on top
makes 12. sieve flour mustard and papria into large bowl, rub in butter until breadcrumbs, add ham and cheese, stir in egg and milk. spoon into muffin cases, sprinkle with parmesan, bake for 20mins on 190/375/GM5
I only use parmesan if I've got some in, I also just use whatever chedder I have in. When I did use mature chedder I reduced the amount as the muffins were too cheesy for us.

:jYipee it worked. They are really tasty, Yesterday when I made them using lidl mild chedder I only used 4oz and 1/2 pack of their premium roast ham, I think a whole pack has 5-6 slices, and they were still yummy - were too strong tasted for us with the full amounts, they have always turned out well.
    Good luck

Angel - like the sound of the mozarella on chicken, will add this to my list, thanks

Went for last bits of March’s shopping today and found a few bargains for April so have updated sig.

I’ve been busy since I got back. Just made my favourite Slimming World quiche for tomorrow and boiled a gammon joint for tonight. I also made some of the famous Twink’s hob nobs. I’ve tried them before with rolled oats as didn’t have porridge and they weren’t quite right. This time they are gorgeous, must leave them alone :o:o

Right must get cleaned up before birthday guests arrive. Catch you later.

  • Just got back from Tesco's. Spent more than I planned but probably have enough to last me a good 2 weeks so that's good.

    Forgot milk though. Grrr.

    Hello everybody!!!

First post on ths thread, had a really bad month last month due to illness etc, so really need to be on budget this month. Also I'm going to new york on 12th april, and if I leave BF without a plan of what he can eat, he could spend all of my budget in that week!

My month started on friday, prior to that I managed 5 NSD's which is a record!!!!

I've just returned from Tesco (Had a load of vouchers that ran out tomorrow). Got some real bargains:

Free range chicken drumsticks reduced from £3.99 to £0.53 (these will be great for BF's lunch box for this week)
Fruit salad reduced from £2.99 to £0.38 (my lunch tomorrow)
Felt quite lazy so went to get a cooked chicken, there was a large one in a bag with the label for a half chicken so got it for £1.99!!!

A friend at work now keeps chickens, and is doing 6 eggs for £0.50, and they are lovely! So there will probably be a few cheap omlette nights this week.

Has anyone got any other ideas for quick easy meals with eggs?

Also welcome workinghardDFW, glad you took my advice, and hello to any other newbies!

Off to menu plan see you all later xx
Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

Jacks, is there a reason you're paying good money for contraception when you could get it for free from family planning?

(If there is a good reason, I really don't need to know what it is - a simple yes will do :D;))

basics plain flour is creeping up in price (Sainsbury's 48p and Asda 45p) but Tesco's is still at 36p. So I stocked up while I have the chance.
    .

Hello apple mint, the asda by me has just price matched this for smartprice plain flour,

    Hope that helps

Spent last night watching a FREE dvd from Blockbusters and ate the FREE pack of Orville Redenbacher's Microwave popcorn. Dropped DD off at work this morning and had a FREE Subway Breakfast with a coupon from the local paper. Am I feeling smug, or what? Can I give up my job yet? :D

  • Spent some of this afternoon in garden (beautiful weather) with OB-feeling much better. We planted brussel sprouts and cucumber seeds (both in greenhouse with pepper tray and green bean pots) and some sprouting potatoes in garden (from our large bag-hoping they will grow). Very pleased.
Tonight's dinner-HM fish pie (using salmon from recent Mr T offer) is now cooking in the oven. Strawberries and cream for dessert. Yummy.
Earlier we spent £1.07 in Mr T (using up a coupon) and £2.25 at the vegetable stall. Will adjust sig.

Well done everyone and good luck for the next week. I love this thread... great ideas and like minded people...
