i try not to buy the broccoli stalks in the first place, its amazing how the stalks accidently fall off the broccoli before it gets placed in my basket :rotfl: i refuse to pay for things im not gonna use so i slyly break off the inedible parts which all add to the weight/price. mr t`s must hate people like me :o

I thought it was just me that did that:o

Can i be put down for £85 for April.
Will be a bit tight but i have a well stocked freezer and cupboards are over flowing (hence the March overspend:o )

helliecopter €€€€€ :rotfl: :rotfl: I've still got my pregnancy fog 18months later! Think it might be permanent with me though :rotfl:

Purplevamp I agree about the cheapo Tbags being foul but we've used them for so long now that real tea just tastes too leafy IYKWIM. I always have to do the 'Tesco Teabag Shake' :o now to shake all the yucky dust off before making a cuppa.

Lil_me I think the reason the thread is so long is because there are so many people joining in - theres 200 people on MrsM's list.
Edit: I agree with you that the threads are getting really long and could be off putting but I dont think it's people posting meal ideas/savings/shopping trips that's the problem as a lot of people find these useful (isn't that what the thread is for?). Its the off topic posts.

weemissy Cheesy chicken is just grilled/baked chicken breast in a cheese sauce or if I cant be bothered to make the sauce I put slices of mozzerela on the chicken for the last five mins of cooking. :)

angelnikki, I know how popular it is, I did the lists before MrsMc took over (thank you by the way you're doing a great job :D ), but there is an area for meal plans which I have highlighted. It's great that there is a lot of support on the thread, but those with limited PC access may find it extremely difficult keeping up. Other threads have had similar issues where members are posting every spend/meal/saving/shopping trip and it puts others off who can't keep up with it. I am not a boardguide on this forum but can see when things might cause issues and have offered an alternative which is a regular thread for that purpose.

As an example MrsMs list from March http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=8967269&postcount=3 if you look, how many posted a target and haven't stayed until the end, there are a few who haven't finished yet, but there are also many who've probably given up keeping up with the thread.
One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

We don't drink that much coffee in our house, just my Mum once a week when she pops round and hubby occassionally when he wants to wake up. I can't stand the stuff myself. I do however use economy teabags in hubbys cup then swap the bag with mine so he thinks he's got Tetley  . Well, he likes it strong so he takes his own bag out (cheap ones are square nice ones are round so he would notice...) This is only going to be until we use up the 160 cheapo bags I got as an experiment last month. I used to get them years ago but had forgotten how foul they are. Only another 90-odd bags to go :rotfl: :rotfl:

OMG I bought MrM red label T bags, well the tea had to crawl out of the pot it was so awful-shan't repeat that one.

But dear DH hasn't noticed cheap granule coffee in the Nescafe jar:rotfl:

MRSMC turkey meatballs and tortilla last night great success and WILL be repeated.

OH wanted to pop out and get the free Time Bandits DVD with one of the Sunday Newspapers (we never buy newspapers normally), so I got him to pop to Tesco's and I went along for the ride :D We even called into Aldi's on the way back.

I spent time on mysupermarket.co.uk last night and noticed that basics plain flour is creeping up in price (Sainsbury's 48p and Asda 45p) but Tesco's is still at 36p. So I stocked up while I have the chance. I also bought 2 x 500g packs of mature chedder (each half price), shampoo and conditioner (bogoff), dried milk (for yoghurt making) and a starter yogurt (one small tub) for the next lot of yoghurt (I made a batch overnight but it hasn't thickened as much as usual so this is going into the making of muffins this afternoon).

In Aldi I stocked with apples (49 p for 6 - 2 packs for packed lunch boxes for OH & myself this week ), olive spread and mozzarella cheese (5 x 49p). Now that I know that I can freeze them I put several mozzarella cheeses away for making pizza's over the month.

Total spend so far this month £19.54. Tuesday night is our shopping night - and being the begining of the month, this is also the time I do my monthly shop. Today's trip has covered some the things on my list but not everything.

I was going to cook chicken legs for dinner tonight, but having read about chicken pies on OS, I'm going to cook these and make them into 2 plate sized chicken and vegetable pies - 2 meals instead of one :D

This thread is really motivating :T I popped some dried peas in to soak last night and this morning set off a pea and ham soup in the slow cooker. I've a batch of Mrs M's Tortilla dough sat in the fridge and this afternoon I'm planning to batch bake muffins and bread.
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

    Hi Peeps....

Re:the Grandad's Pud----it doesn't make a terrific amount of difference if the mix does 'split' cuz you just get a jelly layer as already said. Must admit that I've thought about freezing it but it mever gets left long enough to get that far:p

Could I ask what recipe you used for the Ham & Cheese Muffins WeeMissy, cuz the one I followed off recipezaar.com was foul.

I do so envy you guys who can do pasta bakes & fish pie....I could make them just for me I spoze, but not the ideal:o

ooh i'm buzzing!! just got back from morrisons, and they'd reduced quite a bit of stuff down to 8p......yep that's right....8p :j

i managed to fight my way past a dozen OAP's to get what i wanted, but i ended up with 240 PG tip teabags, 160 ty-phoo teabags, 4 tins of tuna (all cellophaned together so got the 4 for 8p!), 10 bottles of lucozade energy drink for DS who likes em after rugby training, a glade scented candle, a tin of dented Fox's biccies, 12 tins hot dogs, about 25 tins of pedigree chum, adidas deodrant, box of surf wash tablets and some dented tins of beans :D with the other bits of shopping i got (mushrooms, carrots & onion to pad out shepherd's pie for tea tonight), i only spent £4.80 :j

I've NEVER managed to catch when they reduce stuff cos they do it at different times every week, so i'm dead chuffed with meself :rotfl:

so does that mean i can be a member of the Whoopsie club now?? can i? can i?!!
