    Hiya

NSD for me today - mainly cos I was in the office til 6.30 and then had to go watch my team play netball. I wasn't playing today as I'm growing my fingernails for my sisters wedding on Saturday! (That sounds really girly doesn't it - rubbish!!)

So got home to a lovely quorn and veggie stir fry with noodles which was very nice. Am now meant to be tidying the house as OH's brother (my brother-in-law I guess!) is arriving from Australia on Thursday and currently his bed is under a pile of paperwork!

After tomorrow I don't reckon we'll need to cook anything or provide much food (other than breakfast!) until about Tuesday so I have no excuse for going over budget this month! Have cancelled veg box delivery as we just won't use it this month so will be popping down the farm shop for any fresh veg and out to the greenhouse for lettuce and rocket cos it's big enough to eat now!!!! Woohooo!!! :) Very over excited!

By the way - I get paid on 24th each month (or the last working day before if it's a weekend) so that's when my month runs from. May will be 24th April to 22nd May.

I think it's Pink or one of the mods that starts the thread as it needs to be a sticky. Pink has been on today but maybe she's forgot to start the new thread  I've sent a PM

Am wondering if I can do May in £250 this time. I have just had a Mr T delivery, with bog ofs etc it came in at £80.30 Lots of fruit and veg. Cupboards are still pretty full. My challenge is for Myself, 2 x 19year old twins, 1 x 15 year old son. and we have 2 babies. 1x 5mth, and 1 x 7mth, just starting solids. I dont buy all of the nappies and milk, but quite a bit of it. Also includes anything I get from Mr T. Perhaps if I take out the batteries etc, I would come in on target easier!
Now I must tootly off and get my sleep. Hopefully new challenge will be up and running soon.

I have a dilemma ladies- DH spent £8.66 on me today for birthday cake and maltesers and a card. Now if I take that off I will have a really tight month for groceries so should I just ignore it?
I was good- he wanted to go and get a takeaway as it was late when people had left (6.30ish) and I'd not done tea- (I don't think he wanted to cook) but I had mince out already to make something with (one of my 8 portions of the 1kg mince from last month).

    TTFN, Kaz.
Hey, lighten up! you aren't old enough to get that miserly! No, don't count the gift from hubby of £8.66-it only happens once a year! You have been so good! Just sit back with your wine and your cake and your malesers-and enjoy! Extremes are never good-they cause misery. Happy Birthday!

i`d ignore it, oh bought it as a present for you to celebrate your b`day, it wasn`t planned as groceries by you and shouldn`t be seen as such. you did well to resist the temptation of a takeaway...i would of struggled :o :rotfl: happy b`day btw and enjoy your meal out on saturday!
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money

  • Kaz you could always set up a separate budget for Birthdays and gifts etc. Then it wouldnt have to come out of the groceries anyway.

we do have a separate budget but I'm getting a car stereo- I think he just wanted to spoil me so won't take it off.
Of course when DS gets up at 5am and eats all my maltesers I may have to beat him to death with the cake box (joke btw!)- in fact better go and hide them now!
    Night all.
