Mrs._Irwin wrote: »Well, I've had an NSD - grrrrrr! Spent some considerable time sorting out an online Tesco shop, only to find they don't take Electron! Well pardon me for cancelling my credit cards! I am soooo annoyed! I wanted to use Tesco as then I can use the monthly shop towards collecting points, but looks like I'll have to order from Asda again.
Oh well. I remembered to put the breadmaker on, and we had lovely spag bol from last weeks batch cook, so not so terrible I suppose.

Don't worry-Asda are cheaper! I checked my shop online using
mysupermarket.co.uk which compares your trolley "between the shops".
Also, when Asda do substitutes they do not charge you the extra! I got some shower gel this week-should have been 63p bu I only paid 9p. Tesco charge you the full price!
Ive also found lots of codes for free delivey on Asda shops-none for tesco lately. Just need to spend £50. so don't be too sad. Also, I find it a problem getting a delivery slot with Tesco-no problem with Asda.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Made MrsM's Tortillas again last night. They were fab. After getting myself in a very sticky mess lst time :rotfl:, I added a bit extra flour and cooked them a little less (some were a bit brittle last time). They were gorgeous. I can't believe that these are now about £1.50 in the shops. What a rip off.
Still doing ok on the budget, have to add a couple of pounds to my total but still only just over £80 with 9 days to go and I don't need to shop until Saturday - menu planner all done. :T
I def need to stock up the freezer with more chicken soon though, as we use this fairly often and I'm using up the last of it this week. I buy breasts but really stretch them out. Let me know if you know of any offers if you see any.Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
Morning, now I havegot a working feezer thanks to tagz food management should be a lot easier from now on, when we get paid on the 30th I am going to try and cut back and take it even more seriously than I am now to see if it can be cut, as it is I have been buying a load more supermarket brands than usual including biscuits, flour, toilet rolls, noodles, pasta, bread no more labels for me:rolleyes:0

Morning everyone
Just a little spend yesterday, £1.79 in morrisons on some fresh ginger, cabbage, greek yog and choc buttons for DD. OH decided he didn't want roast lamb but a lamb rogan josh. The recipe calls for fresh ginger, which only cost me 10p for a 2 inch chunk, but can I use ground ginger instead? I think it'd probably work out a bit cheaper and definately more convenient. All the other spices in the curry are ground (except a cinnamon stick, but I had some ground in so I don't know any different!).
Egon - How about Homemaker? I'll be interested in the outcome as I may be sorting my CV out soon too. Good Luck
How a nice day everyone and good luck to those on the last week of the GC

Probably would affect the flavour, i would use fresh. But you can buy a bigger bit and freeze what you dont use for next time. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Well, I've done the Asda order, so that'll arrive on Wednesday.
Only problem - seems Asda online have no yeast! I'll have to get it when I'm in town. I'll use Tesco for top-up shops and point collecting, as it's next to the bus station, and just have to wait til I can get a better bank account to do my online order there!

Happy to report an NSD for me. I,ve been wondering if I should have a weekly or 4 weekly GC as I get paid 4 weekly. I am just turning chicken because I,ve overspent ? Still I try to look at everything I,m buying and ask myself if I need it? If I,ll use it? Is it worth it? I,ve used something in the region of £70 in Mocs in the last 2 months, I shouldn't have had to spend the money that I have, must have a good think about what I,m doing. I know I,ve cut down on waste dramatically, and not spending at work hardly at all. Is that what you call a double infinitive? Or just the bleatings of a crazed, bloated by sausage casserole, woman. Only another week to go of this challenge , so I,ll stick it out till the end. Hope you all do well.
I do a 4 weekly challenge because of the way things are paid, i generally do £200 = £50 a week for me (pregnant and addicted to salad - not cheap!), OH (eats for 3) and DD (6).
I was going to try and make this months money last for 5 weeks but i know i'd definitely come in over budget so i'm sticking at my 4 weekly plan, so my new month starts this Friday. It does help me to come in under budget as i think i've done well, and if i went over, even if i'd got 5 weeks worth out of it i'd feel like a failure iykwim?£200 pm/£50 pw is comfortable for us so i think i'll just try to stick within it rather than lowering it, and anything i dont spend out of the budget is a bonus.
Hope i make sense?Probably not!!!
Take care

morning all
well am hoping for an NSD, although i did dip into this weeks grocery money last week when i went to iceland
got some dough in the BM to make some buns to freeze.... thank god DD & DS are back at college/school!! as fast as i was baking stuff, it never even made it as far as a tin, let alone the freezer :rotfl:
i'm gonna grab a lift off my sister tomorrow morning cos she's going to Lidl. i only really need rice, frozen fruit and cottage cheese.....i'll just have to be strict with myself and not even pick up a basket, so i'm not tempted to buy anything else!! i'm gonna have to get some Yeo valley yogurt from tesco tho, to make another batch of HM yogurt, but i'm not even gonna take my purse with me...just gonna take the 38p then i CAN'T buy anything else!!0
