I hate getting paid without seeing a wage slip, it confuses the heck out of meNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130

well, it's local government so I can't see them deviating in any way from the offer.
The only thing I can think of is this:
When I left my last job on 6 May, I was sent a P45. It said I had earned (not including the redundancy which wasn't taxable) from 5 April to 4 May
£2663
and I had paid
£349 in tax.
Now, I don't have to do a tax return yet for my AQA for this year, so in effect, all i've earned in the eyes of the tax man is £2,663 which is under the £5,220 personal allowance threshold but i've still been taxed £349.
I wonder if the computer has spat out a figure that somehow either doesn't include tax..........but it is still too much for 2 weeks, so maybe it is the 2 weeks i've worked plus next month without any tax?? would I be paid in advance?? i'd still have NI to pay on that figure......plus my 6% pension I've opted into.....
hhmmm, nice to have though- and I guess I'll just have to have my tax figure adjusted a bit when I do my self employed return later in the year. Oh well, whatever has happened, it's more than I was expecting and I'll just work with whatever the situation is!
EDIT: Bunny - I'll be around until about 7 or so if that's any help - I'm off out at about 4 for an hour.

Is it worth ringing up and having a minge(whinge for folk over the penines) at them?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

LOL at Bob

Nah, I'll leave it until I see my pay slip. I'm at home now and they wouldn't tell me any figures over the phone anyway because of confidentiality.
I'm sure it will come out in the wash, but it just seems an odd amount!!
Nice though as I lost 11 days of March on AQA as I was on holiday so if I can work as many hours as possible tomorrow, Sunday and Monday on AQA, I might well not have to dip into my savings again, which I was on course to have to do!
I've also just remembered I stuck my euros in a packet in a bag when I got back and haven't looked at them since. Wonder what I've got left......

I did that with some euros as well. Mr. b works in post office and took them back-free and a good rate. Wait a bit though as it has just gone down. Is Aqa very profitable then? I was looking at the pack they sent me and they reckon about £7 an hour.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Is it just me that thinks 'minge' is something else entirely?? :rotfl:boredofbeingathome wrote: »Is it worth ringing up and having a minge(whinge for folk over the penines) at them?

170 euros!! Twice what I guessed I'd brought back! There's no rush for it to be changed back, I'll keep an eye on the rate.
Wellllllllllll, I'd say £7 is about the average before tax and NI. Some days it is easy to clock up double that per hour, particularly if you work a Friday night or Saturday night but some days (as in Jan and Feb), I was scratching around trying to earn the minimum wage - and failing.
Just opening up my AQA software now and it says (doing a quick average calculation) I've earned £7.70 per hour this month. That's a bit disappointing, I'm (apparently) a very fast answerer - my average is less than a minute - and I've got 18 months uner my belt with them so know how to search for answers. I was expecting it to be nearer £10 an hour before tax and NI.
Snaggles, it isn't just you - a minge is a minge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would deduce from what you have told me that you are still under the tax threshhold earnings wise so that would mean that you wouldnt pay any tax on this months earnings as your gross pay figure to date for 07/08 is under £5220.
If you handed in you P45 to your new employer and they have put you on 522L tax code you would (going off your YTD figures) not pay any tax on this months earnings and would get a tax refund of £345.But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0
