What's the best/first 'normal' thing you've done since BR?

The first normal thing I did was open a little bottle of something.
But I suppose the things with the most immediate impact were opening some of the letter I hadn't dared to before. Plus of course, not having such an enormous sinking feeling when anything dropped through the door or the phone rang.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Plugging the phone back in ( though no ones ringing me now )- and- like Wherediditallgo- the post. Came home tonight- got a couple letters- and I wasnt feeling sick and full of dread. My heart used to pound when I got post. Also getting back to normal after MASSIVE stress out. Skin always flares up when stressed- Psoriasis, huge spots- so have gone from Mount Versuvius spots and psorisis flakes to more or less back to normal.
On another level- and I hope I dont sound really sanctimonious here- just bowing out of the "I want it all, and I want it now ( on credit)" lifestyle.
Ive come to realise all the things I used to "need"- I dont at all. I had a credit free Christmas- thought it would be rubbish cos I had to use old plastic tree and not buy real one, and really toned down on stuff. But I had the best Xmas in a long time. I dont miss my "old" life at all. I expect it will be hard when things happen- washer breaks down and wont have plastic to fall back on- but dare say will get used to it.0 -
Hey D, great last post thanks
There are still a lot of people who are still doing the `credit thing` & see nothing wrong with it....not being too pessimistic here but I think in the coming years then many people are heading for trouble... we are the lucky ones as we are dealing with it now...once & for all.
i am having a `stress` today but coping...I think!!

Each post on this thread has brought me a smile as they all have one thing in common and that its the simple things that mean something.
Dodecanese:your post struck a chord as it reminds me of all those credit filled Christmases to make sure my daughter got the "in toy"(which they play with for five minutes before realising the box it came in makes a real cool house:rolleyes:) nowadays the more simple life is the better as far as im concerned.
ive not even really started getting myself out of the mess yet but this thread shows what can be achieved:T0 -
i must agree with angel that dodec's post was refreshing..
your christmas without extravagance etc just shows the real meaning of it all and we are all guilty of over endulgence on credit esp at that time.
I too am looking forward to the 'credit' free lifestyle...if i havent got it cant put it onto cards so guess i dont need it after all...yes the emergencies will be difficult but im sure we'll all come through that too...there is always free cycle if anyone needs anything urgently.
Best wishes in your debt free life...

Hi Angel,
Hope the stress day has eased- I had a bit of a stress day yesterday when I became convinced Black Horse would give me a CCJ( before that I was going to get done for fraud/get a BRO/executed)- I have an overactive imagination. Feeling ok again- you will too- it comes and goes.
Persolv0- your post made me laugh- I remember my mum and dad buying a fridge/freezer that came in a HUGE box. Me, my brother and sister and all our pals played in that box for weeks until my parents got sick of it and carted it off to the tip.0 -
