When you get one, ALWAYS make sure you take it with you. If you forget it, they will ask if you have one, then you say yh but i forgot it, theyll ask for your name and address then they go check for your card number (takes about 5 mins and a great big queue is behind you making you feel silly) if you dont have one theyll sign you up before you buy.

Need one in the Durham - Hartlepool shops and the Manchester ones ive been to.

You don't need a card to buy anything in Matalan.

Yep, need one to shop at Newton Abbot and Exeter, had to use my MIL's once when i forgot my own! Haha.

What is the freebie? Or has this been posted on the wrong board?

Ive been to about 5 Matalans in the Manchester area, and you cant purchase anything unless you have a Matalan card.

The one near me has a big sign up behind the tills saying you no longer need a card yet when you go to buy something they say you can't unless you have a card. You always hear people complaining and pointing at the sign but the staff just say you need a card.

hubby went and bought something from the Oxford store at the weekend and didn't use a card, when I said about it, my step-son said he and his partner went there a couple of weeks ago and didn't need the card either. I'm not sure if you have to use it just for the special offers that they put around the store for cardholders.?

You also need a card in the Leeds stores

I have been told you can buy without a card, but if the item is on special offer (get 2 for £10) then you need a card. If not, you will charged the full price.
