We got ours seperately but now have one each for flex account.
Im unsure what we actually need it for? Is it just when paying bills etc through on line site as we only really use ours for checking statement or will we need it to do that as well?Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I have my card reader for my flex account. You have to use them when paying bills etc not to look at your statement. I have already tried once to use it to pay a bill but the website just jammed - just seems a bit of a pain to be honest. I sent a cheque instead!:rolleyes:2025: 52 wk envelope challenge #80

Thanks for the warning - I hadn't realised that it would require the use of the card reader to make any payment to an external account. RBS have sent me a reader which I have used once (thankfully easy to use without bothering to read the booklet) - but only where you are setting up a new payee account. Repeat payments to an account already set up doesn't require the reader.
Nationwide have surely gone too far if we have to carry the reader with us everywhere unless we never do any online banking except from home.0 -
agh, they have activated it on my account and haven't got my new card yet0

They activated it on my account last night and it seems to want me to muck around with it each time I do a bill payment... I thought it would be random transactions, but so far it's been every flippin' one.
I might dust off the cheque book too - seems easier!43580 -

A little tip that I learnt 'the hard way' this week........
If you lock your card by messing about with incorrect PINs you can unlock it at ANY atm by choosing 'pin services' and following the on screen instructions.
I'm all in favour of anything that improves bank security and we'd be quick enough to complain if the banks did nothing to combat fraud.
I appreciate that no system will ever be 100% 'perfect'.0 -
I had started to think that nationwide security was a bit lax before they started this (and them silly extra 'security' questions, like what color are your eyes).
Moving on when will halifax improve there security, the log on questions they use are so easy to find out "whats your mothers/fathers first name" etc. Also I have always thought that the question could be emotional for those who lost there parents or did not know one of them.0 -

It's been every one for me too, which is a pain as I have the reader at work so I can't do things at home!
Especially a pain as I regularly move money between my NW current account and my (Kaupthing Edge) savings account because NW are pretty rubbish on their interest rates...
And yes, I have started sending cheques...Matched Betting Profits since May 2006: £467.330
