I just want to rant about my visit to Boots today.I went to the Eldon Square Newcastle branch.I had some vouchers I had been sent in the post and some out of the machine.I got everything I wanted and stood in the queue, they were taking ages.It got to my turn, and the assistant rang everything in.I gave her my vouchers which in fairness were for the right products. She emptied out my stuff back onto the counter and called one of the supervisors standing at the bottom of the tills. They checked everything.Firstly the 200 points Pantene voucher was not allowed as they were on buy one get one half price free at the moment.A voucher for 250 points on any expert body was not allowed as it was get a gift with two products.I was told I could get the gift or the points.I could'nt use a voucher worth 600 points against olay skincare as that was also currently on offer for 3 for 2,even though I had bought the specific product. The final straw came when they were refusing to put through my 200 points with spend voucher, because my spend contained products from the available offers.I stood my ground on this one and said that it was ridiculous and I had never had this problem before. The supervisor said she would check, at this point I wanted to walk away but some of the stuff I needed.Supervisor came back and said since she was'nt sure she would let me have my 200 points. She then went on to say they are having a crackdown as they have been told vouchers had been misused and staff were being told to adhere to the rules. If this is going to happen infuture then I think I'll not bother using Boots, you can get stuff mich cheaper elsewhere it's only the points and offers that make it worth shopping there and if these are not going to be honoured what's the point.I'm so annoyed I lost out on 1050 points in total today even though I bought all the products.

You certainly hit the jackpot with these SA's:eek: I cannot fully understand why some do this. I realise they have a job to do, but it is their employers who are issuing the vouchers.

I had a similar experience. ie "you cant use this voucher with any other offer" I put it to the SA that it's hard to find anything in Boots that isn't on offer in one form or another and Boots are throwing vocuhers everyhere, in the magazines, through the post, in leaflets and in a machine especially manufactured for that very job.

It's a no win situation if the SA refuses to budge. I stood my ground but got nowhere, I composed a long letter to customer services which I never sent. I felt humiliated as a long queue had built up, and I am sure you felt the same.

The only consolation is for every SA like that there are loads who aren't. I now try to avoid them if possible. But I understand and sympathise with you fully. I felt like saying stuff Boots I will go elsewhere, but I didnt but I learned from it. Good luck in your future shops :T :T

Couldn't resist looking for the elusive No7 Nail Sets and was pleased I found them and asked the No7 lady to price check them and she said 'they are £10.00' even before checking them. I think she was surprised they went through for £2.50 and I picked up 3 on a 3 for 2 (£5.00 total). I wish I had looked for the mediterranean soap glitch but as I hadn't seen your message I didn't want to chance it again in case it bleeped and the kids were keen to get to Madame Tussauds. After waiting in the wrong queue in the wind for 20 minutes and then another 30 minutes inside in the right queue it was 4.55 when we got in and I couldn't believe the 'reduced' price still meant I paid £76.00 for the five of us and what worked out to just over an hour's visit. Never mind... still managed to get my nail sets and the kids enjoyed it - I just can't help thinking about how many hours (at £5.52 an hour) I worked just to pay for it!!!!
I think another trip to Boots is called for to cheer me up!!!
Sorry for yet another LONG post - friends are always telling me I talk too much!!!!:o

Hi fellow Luton bootser:D glad to hear you found the No7 nail sets in London:j

Gosh, Madam T's is so expensive:eek: I haven't been there for years. What I really miss about London is the museums. DD and I used to visit at least 2 a week when we lived there.

Are you going into boots in the mall tomorrow? I don't think I am. I need a little rest from bootsing...well, my purse does anyway:rotfl:

Broclo, have you (or anyone) used Boots own brand nappies recently? I'm just wondering what they are like these days, on behalf of my youngest sister (who is also a bit of a hippy) Her first baby is due soon and she's wondering which brand of disposables to buy.

Years ago when I had my babies and the NHS provided nappies while you were in hospital, they used Boots own brand nappies and they were excellent. I used them for my 3 and much preferred them over other brands, no leaks etc. plus they were an awful lot cheaper.

Are they any good these days?

I though Boots own were rubbish to be honest! Mind you...like I said...my little fella does drink an awful lot! I have tried a few times the Tesco own brand and I thought they were really good, but only when he was tiny as I like getting my nappies in big boxes off of dot com or using 500pts on £10 spend in store.

However, one of my mummy friends RAVES about tesco's and will tell random people in baby changing rooms lol. Noticed at mum and baby groups that alot of mums use them.

So, really as far as I can tell...Tescos are best, but huggies if you want points lol

Tried reusables, but had to sell them as my son has no bum and OMG they leaked!

Haven't posted for quite a while, but have been lurking:D . Wondered if any Glasgow bootsers have managed to get the Med vouchers from acm. I tried Silverburn and Braehead today but no luck:(

Did manage to use the rest of my haircare vouchers on UG shampoo and conditioner and stocked up on Anadin Extra 32 for £1.49 (half price through health club) so not a wasted trip although no nail kits either.

Just thought...if you and her apply to get stuff from Huggies club and Tesco mum and Basby club, you'll both get lots of vouchers then she can try them both.

I've known people to have to switch brands at different sizes as they find they just do not fit aswell as another brand, then had to change back again. Could always ask the scanographer if it looks like bubba has a big butt I guess? lol. Sorry.
  • Had quite a good shop at slough boots today.
Too chicken to try med. glitch.
    NO expert tins.
No no 7 nail kits :(
No cheap 17, all new packaging now.
4 pink max factor gwps but behind the max factor lady and she was guarding them with her life!
Clearance was nearly empty with the same stuff as last time i went in! About 8 17 tan shimmer things in a tube for 62p, they were the only new things though.
No reduced s&g or accessorize. These are long gone from slough:rotfl:
Did a good shop despite it though, will post list in a bit, just off to do my tesco shop :)
p.s If anyone could pretty please get me 3 of the no 7 nail sets i will happily (as in jumping up and down in glee:rotfl: ) pay for them plus postage or i can swap for a bnib night garden shape sorter? :)

Gutted to have missed all the Pink Champagne. I called CS today to check area stores for the hat boxes, wish I'd thought to do the same yesterday for the champers.
I am in charge of buying stock for the school BBQ so have decided to buy the food from my own pocket via a wholesaler & cap the cost of the food so the lower income families can have a good night. The beer/wine I get when Adsa do the cheap booze offers but the Champers would've bought more pennies into the school funds as I could charge more than £1 a glass.
Some of my nail kits today will go as prizes for the stall we run ( indulgence draw & raffle ) If I can get some med sets these will be for the same stall. Bonus is I get the points & the school get some decent prizes.

In the rush to try & bag some hat boxes I managed to destroy my lunch...must share:
I was on the phone to CS checking areas for stock
    pasta in a pan cooking
pasta sauce in a pan cooking
    drain pasta
slighly burn sauce so pour sauce in pasta pan & squirt sauce pan with fairy liquid
mix pasta into the sauce too much pasta so
pour surplus pasta into sauce pan ( remember the liquid )
add the surplus pasta to the bigger pan & managed to spoil all the food withthe taste & aroma of lemon fairy liquid.....
    And NO hat boxes!

Sorry it's long but had to share how obsessive this Bootsing lark is.

Thanks. I find this store's SAs quite on the ball, pretty doubtful I can get the Med bags through with the soap, but will try anyway and see what happens. Tried twice to get the S&G bags here but no luck. Could never see any MF GWPs there either.

Nine tails, this has become my least favourite store. Some of the SA's are really nice though, but I never find any glitches here. I've never, ever seen any GWP's that scan for free-apart from the roc bag (by the way, has anyone received theirs through the post yet? I haven't:confused: ) and SA wouldn't let me have it with the wipes:mad: got loads in luton no bother! HSK used to be my fav store, but not seen any GWP's that scan for free for a while. I think they have wised up here too!

Do you ever shop at the marble arch branch? I've not been in there for a long time. Is it worth a visit?
