I dont mean to upset anyone but last year we got a bit of a telling off because this is a thread about our daily lives and it started getting more chatty (like in discussion time), rather than what people were doing.

A lot of people got very upset, and some lovely people even stopped posting completely, so it was decided that the sticky would be added to the first post each day to show people what sort of posts should be posted.

Occassionally we still get days when the thread is more chatty, which is ok of an evening as long as its a one off, and not a regular occurance.

I must say i do think its a bit inappropriate at the moment for too much chat seeing that one of our long standing members has just lost her husband and the funeral is being held tomorrow. As soon as i turned on the computer this afternoon and saw 137+ posts i guessed that the chit chat had carried on, and i really dont think its appropriate, especailly at the moment. I still havnt read all the thread, there is far to much of it, but i will, and apologise if i am mistaken.

    I don't! and I have a feeling I will be evicted:eek:

Worried cos I've just been chitty chatting with a bit of flirting thrown in:eek:

Discount Diva will you please leave the OS daily thread, Discount Diva......................

No one is telling anyone to leave and it is no one's right to do so but what Mrs Mix posted above was formulated by MSE Andrea after the thread suffered problems from going wildly off topic with posts that would have been better in the Arms or DT. The Daily thread is a really really welcoming place but we will lose it if the powers that be see it becoming something that it was not designed for. That has been threatened in the past.

It is always lovely to have new posters and we're not a gang of witches who hound people out if they don't do things the way we like. I go off topic all the time. :o BUT.... I try and save it until very late at night and try to be sensitive to other poster's situations. If I end up posting to just one other poster I take it to pm.
Smokybabe is a much loved member and she is going through hell. We just want her to know we are thinking of her.

That's just my take on it and I don't speak for anyone else. Sorry if I've offended anyone.
I hope this subject doesn't escalate and I hope you stick around Diva. ;)

Ps.... Haven't a clue about the porridge oats Mumzy :D

You post about your daily OS life, and maybe comment on the posts beforehand. The odd question is fine, but there is a sticky at the top of the OS board, started after last years rumpass, which is a quick questions about anything thread which should be used for any little query.
why is thier a rule on how much/what we chat about????

There is a rule because any general chit chat should be in the moneysaving arms, not the other boards. We are allowed to have the daily thread here rather than there as long as it doesnt get to chatty by the good will of the powers that be!!!

There isn't a "rule" Your posts are fine Mumzy, not that it's up to me to say it. :o . Please don't get upset. It's a daily chat thread based around the old style activities in our lives. Obviously that includes talking about our lives in general a bit too. The sticky says it all really.

DT and The Arms are designed to keep non moneysaving posts off the main forum so we're lucky to have it here at all really.

Edit...I don't really want to continue discussing this (if that's what's needed) in light of the fact that smoky will be reading this later.
