Help ! Cant get Deposit back !

It really doesnt matter if theirs a record of the measurements, what matters is where the original you gave them is and if the sofas meet them

If they built sofas to meet measurements you gave and have done this, they fulfilled their part

Its not their problem if your measurements were inaccurate

Sadly you clearly dont have any of this proof and are screwed

we told them measurements and the guy measured sofas and said yes these will fit.

the agreement says at the bottom the items are made to your specification
but they are clearly not,

The agreement does not say the deposit is non refundable
nor does it say if you dont accpet all items that you still pay for them

this is my main gripe no one advised us of these issues before i made a payment

as i said previously i have not given up yet.

Did you tell the man that the walls were next to each other? If not then by omission he is correct as he may have assumed that they were for opposite walls.

Good luck trying to get your deposit back, although I think unless specifically stated deposits tend to be non refundable.

yes he was told they were joining walls as he also measured corner sofas
but they were too big and one wall slightly shorter.

Errata

Have you got a copy of the order? Has it got your measurements on it? Are they correct?
If your measurements are not recorded on the order did you query it, because it's pretty difficult for a factory to make a piece of made to measure furniture without the measurements.

Deposits are by their nature non refundablee

You gave the guy measurements, unless you can show he ordered different ones its your own fault

Today i went to the store with a good friend of mine who is a store manager in the retail sector.

anyway after much discussion with the salesman who ws still refusing to help
we left and my friend rang head office and within an hour they rang me back

and refunded me my £200 deposit !!

Head office were fab really lovely people.

So i am very happy now !

i found that when we ordered they measured the main body [at the back] but did not take into account the arms .

just goes to show all they want to do is sell the item regardless of if it will fit or not

just goes to show im not alone.

im pleased the head office were so nice to me as the shop were appalling

i expect when the deposit goes back to a customer then the sales guy loses
commision ?

maybe thats why they are adamant they wont refund.

what suprises me is he said he didnt have to tell anyone deposit non refundable !

also what happens to 14 days cooling off period, surely that applies ?

well i know im future not to take anyones word for it with measurements,
and to give minimal deposits.

we live and learn !

Surely a corner sofa would automatically mean two walls together? Or why would a customer ask for a corner sofa? It amazes me how DFS are still trading with all the bad reports/press they get. Questions on deposit seems to come up quite frequently.
