Hello all
Am doing okay, well under my grocery budget, have done all christmas pressie shopping (just need to wrap - thats the bit I dislike)
Have renewed Car Insurance today, unfortunately paying monthly as I haven't got enough saved to pay outright.
I rang TalkTalk (my telephone and broadband supplier) to discuss cancelling my contract, as I moved they have 'renewed' the contract from the date I moved in! I explained I'd had them at my previous address and expected it just to carry on, unfortunately this is not the case, it'll cost me £70 to get out of it!!! Shame nobody told me at the time!
Had our electricity bill in also, all I can say is  ! Every thing is off at the switch, no standby in this house! Gas bill was okay.
Hubbies hours have been reduced slightly, am hoping to get more cleaning jobs to help out.

just having major panic attack! Had to have new clutch on car and it was a bit more than first thought! Just means we'll be in the overdraft for a while next month. Is that a bad thing? My hubbie makes me feel crap about it, anyone would think it was a crimal offence!
My grocery budget this month is great, I've bought a notebook, and a write a weeks meal plans so hubbie knows what we're having each day, on the back of that page I write the shopping list for the next week. Its really working well! Have also been buying cheapo tomato sauce and putting it in Heinz bottle, hubbie hasn't even noticed!
Have finished Christmas Shopping. Am well chuffed, and relieved. Just gotta wrap!
Hope all is well with everyone!Toughest form of moutain climbing is climbing out of a rutI WILL be debt free!I WILL be happy!red pen member 40 -
Hello,
good to hear from you & it sounds like you're doing really well what with meal planning & having done all the christmas shopping :A .
If the car needs a new clutch then it needs a new clutch & if you have to use the overdraft for a bit then so be it. I had to put my car repairs on the CC a few months back  . I have now learnt what the emergency / car spares & repairs on a SOA is for & believe me I add to it every pay day
.
If OH is not happy then you could suggest that he go without beer / sky for a couple of months to compensate
I reckon he'll go quiet then.
You're doing really well & be proud of yourself for what you've achieved so far,
take care & hugs to you hon

Am sitting here feeling very smug with myself, why is that you may ponder! Well I'm doing great on my grocery shopping, it makes me so happy to be able to wander around tesco's and not buy what we don't need. I am beginning to get will-power!! yeah!!!! if only I could bottle it and sell it!!!
My next step is go around Asda, more temptation there!
hope everyone is doing well.
best wishes

I keep having panic attacks. I'm worried about hubbie losing his job (his work sees okay at the moment).
Also things are going okay, and I'm wondering when it'll all go wrong again.
I'm normally upbeat, but this is really wearing me down. Perhaps its the time of year, I don't know. I'm worried about the amount of money I owe and how I'll pay it back if he does lose his job.
I'm feeling low, but have resisted temptation to go out and spend to make me feel better.Toughest form of moutain climbing is climbing out of a rutI WILL be debt free!I WILL be happy!red pen member 40 -
Hi Charlotte
Used to bump into you on the 'What small things ...' thread so thought I'd say Hi! I find this time of year very hard too. So much gets spent, even if you have budgeted for it, and it makes me feel I can't pay or put away what I want to - I'm trying to save so next years car costs, insurance, tax etc are paid up front.
I know from your previous posts that you work hard too and, blimey, you finished your Christmas shopping in November! If that isn't being organised and well planned i don't know what is.
I don't suppose you can NOT worry about hubbies job, but you are doing so well you should congratulate yourself on that and try and enjoy your well planned Christmas with your family

Hi Yorkshire Belle
Thank you for your kind words. Deep down I know I'm being very silly, and there are people worse off than me. Just now and then this happens. Will be better after Christmas hopefully!
I've achieved alot, this years Christmas is paid for in cash, no credit cards! The food side is going well too, my Nan is giving us a food hamper for all of us, that really does help!
Thanks again.

Hey hon,
you're doing really well as Yorkshire Belle said, so dont worry it's just the time of year when we all feel that maybe we could have done a bit more  .
I feel like I've done nothing but spend spend spend for weeks & have let go of being DFW a bit
but i know that actually I'm doing way better than last year; like you all christmas paid in cash & survey vouchers
.
Just relax now, enjoy having time with the family & think of what you can achieve over the next year
Take care

Hello all!
Although I haven't been posting on here, I have been around.
Still money saving and have found its become a healthy habit! Christmas was well planned and not over budget!
Have got a couple of cleaning jobs lined up (benefits of living in a tourist area!) Have worked out with the extra I'll be able to clear a big chunk of the credit cards! YIPEE
hope all is well for everyone and a belated Happy New Year
