I want waffles now! I think I will get to Lidl today after work to see if they have any waffle makers left here...

So, I got the waffle maker in Lidl last night (the square one). Tried to make the recipe above, and it was not good. We didn't have a single waffle! They were limp, not browning at all. I left them for 15 min+ in, and they were still not cooked through....

Will try to look for different recipe, if not, it will have to go back - now, how Lidl are with returns?..

I bought the Lidl waffle maker and have been experimenting with gluten free recipes. I'm sure I'll keep tweaking, but this works and goes down fine with the non-GF-ers as well.

    Gluten-free waffles

100g GF plain white flour blend (I use Dove's Farm)
1 1/2 teaspoons GF baking powder
    25-50 g caster sugar
    50g butter, melted
    125 ml milk
    2 eggs, separated

Preheat waffle iron at setting 4 (of 5) while you prepare the batter.
Beat egg whites until stiff and set aside.
Beat egg yolks and milk together. Stir in melted butter.
    Sift dry ingredients together.
Pour milk mixture into flour, combine then beat well.
    Fold egg whites into batter.
Brush waffle iron plates with melted butter.
Spoon two generous tablespoons of batter into each mould.
Cook for 7-8 minutes, and enjoy.

I'd be glad to hear of any alternative suggestions, but these are pretty edible.

I have just bought a Silvercrest Cinammon Waffle maker from Lidl and am extremely disappointed! The picture on the box made the waffles look like the usual ones you buy in the shops but I followed the instructions and they are really thin, more like biscuits than waffles, although they do taste good. Just wondered if anyone else had bought one of these and had either managed to cook thicker ones in it or had successfully returned it. Not very happy as I feel like I have wasted twelve quid!:(
