I bought this one first of all back in September I managed to make 4 waffles then it stopped working and wouldn't heat up.

So no I wouldn't recommend that one. Go to Lidl - £10!

That rachel allen recipe is lovely isn't it? I use it all the time. I wonder why though my waffle iron isn't working as well as it used to? They seem to be sticking.....

Have you tried brushing it with melted butter? Can't believe how good that recipe tastes. Think I'm going to be using it alot over the easter holidays. :D

Craft Lady, can I ask which Lidl waffle maker is it you have? I have the round one which makes heart shaped waffles a bit like this:
    http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Kalorik-Heart-shaped-Waffle-Maker/3476730/product.html?sec_iid=38648

Is this like yours? I've not had any luck using mine they stick or don't rise or just taste like pancakes - maybe I just need a better recipe. Any tips?
    Thanks.

    It's only a game

If you have access to a "Costco" they do a mix called "Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake mix".

It makes first class Waffles and Pike lets.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

The make I got from Lidl is SilverCrest. It is squarish and makes 2 rectangular waffles.

Not sure if I am allowed to post the recipe but here goes (mods sorry - delete if I'm not allowed)

    Rachel Allen from Home Cooking

    200g plain flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    50g caster sugar
    2 eggs
    100g melted butter
    300ml milk

mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. whisk together milk, eggs, butter. Whisk liquid into dry mix until smooth. Heat and grease the waffle maker with melted butter and pour some batter in. Cook for 4-5 mintues or until cooked. ENJOY!!!!

  • I got my waffle iron in Tchibo for £9.99 before they closed down it has lasted me four years and is still going strong.
My lot love bacon waffles with a drizzle of maple syrup yuuuuuuum or plain with ice cream . I use the Rachel Allen Recipe as well.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
