Even if you don't think the cat isn't a mouser....it may turn out to be one. My parents cat was large, sluggish and regularly got dive bombed by blackbirds. Hadn't caught anything for ages. Soppy old thing really.
My mother noticed one day some 'messages' on ledges and thought that they had a mouse. She was going to do something about it. But one day when we came home the cat was hiding in a corner at the top of the stairs. Mum thought the cat had brought something dead inside and shooed her out.....but then she spied a tail! That large sluggish cat had actually managed to catch a real live mouse! We were amazed.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

When we lived out in the country we were over run with mice, we saved our 2 litre juice bottles then we cut them in half and poured some rum into them just a couple of inches in each bottle, then we placed them in the loft and in other places where we thought the mice were coming in  ,its amazing the small gaps mice can get through, anyway the mice are attracted by the smell they fall in get drunk and then drown,i know it sounds cruel but its better then having your head or nose caught in a mouse trap and then having a slow death.we hated killing them but when they started to chew through our electrics  we had to do something,we didnt find the humane traps much use,the mice never went near them.0

I suffer too with mice and i just use the normal spring loaded traps.
You will catch lots of mice in the beginning and then it will taper off to the occassional mouse.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Oh dear. It's that time of the year when the mice come in out of the cold.
We lived in the country for 25 years in a big old house and it was always November/December we knew we had them. It can be difficult to find the point of entry and in a big old rambling house you can be sure that by the time you see one, then there is already a family in residence.
We always had at least one cat and they were all good mousers - but this didn't stop the yearly invasion. In the end we left poison in a few places permanently. Yes there will be a smell for a few days, but if you get the first one that comes in then you don't have a whole family to deal with.0 -
Just checked my traps and guess what I've caught?
