there are humane traps that look like a closed sww saw, mr mouse runs in to the trap in the high pat of the see saw, and when his weight makes the see saw - sees saw then the exit closes, thus trapping him inside, in the morning you know hes been caught cos the dorr is closed and its humane. i find a caramel sweetie works cos it sticks to the wall of the high part of the see saw - here is the picture of it http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.jonathansblog.net/media/angle_trap.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.jonathansblog.net/mouse_catching_traps_mousecam&usg=__4O1VZ2fdGW3A0W5FEAf_CxIDtHA=&h=200&w=268&sz=10&hl=en&start=9&um=1&tbnid=GbQeKC-sJn4PTM:&tbnh=84&tbnw=113&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhumane%2Bmouse%2Btrap%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN sorry but i just dont agree with traps that hurt them or kill them - they are ever so cute after all!)

I used one of those humane traps when we lived in America. If you have one mouse, there is usually a family so once youve caught one you need to keep putting the trap down every night. I think we used bread and jam. I released the mice on land away from the house and didnt get a problem again. I would rather set free a live mouse than deal with a dead one lol“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Today a OH and I saw a mouse shoot from under the fridge, right across the kitchen floor and down between the washer and the tumbler:eek:
How can we get rid of it? We have a fireplace which has quite a few gaps between the bricks so maybe it is getting in that way. We intend to cement up all the gaps tomorrow, but then the mouse may be trapped in the kitchen
I'm not afraid of mice (they're quite cute) but I am worried about the hygiene aspect of it. We would love to get a cat but most of us suffer from asthma and fur allergies, so that isn't really an option

I was speaking to someone the other day who said they had a mouse. She said she has heard it scurrying about on her wall units!
It seems to have developed a taste for chocolate so you could try that instead of cheese in a trap.0 -
You can get a humane mouse trap that doesn't squish the mouse. Google to find suppliers. Once it's caught in the little cage you take it for a long walk in the direction of the Dairylea factory, release him/her and then leg it home, hoping that it doesn't have a strong homing instinct!0

MY cat thinks it's fun to bring in live mice just to frighten me, he then loses interest. I opend the bedroom cirtains a few weeks ago and a large well fed mouse ran across the window ledge! it was a Toad in the conservatory last night! We now keep a largish glass jar, to put over the live animal, and a thin strip piece of metal to slide underneath the jar and carry said animal back home. For mice that are hiding we gave up on the humane traps and use old fashioned ones baited with bits of cereal bars or chocolate at a posh, chese doesn't work with our field mice. Keep out of reach of children, usually put down several traps round the skirting boards, in betwean the dish washer/ washer etc.
We once had a mouse in the house for a couple of days, could hear it but not find it, it ran across the living room floor, in front of the cat, and I caught it curled up asleep in the middle of a large floor flower arangement, it went back out into the garden non the worse.0 -
I've found the humane traps to be very successful - especially if baited with some peanut butter. Got mine from Wilkinsons.
Make sure you wear rubber gloves when taking your 'little friend' for a long walk - mice have no bladder control and humane traps are not 'water-tight' IYKWIM!0 -
The only problem with the humane traps is that you need to take the mice a good 2 - 3 miles away before you release them, otherwise they'll just make their way back to where they started from.
Make sure that your kitchen housekeeping is spot on, so no crumbs or bits of food for them to eat. You might find that they'll get into cupboards and chew away at food in there.
When we had mice, we put down poison in the cupboard under the sink and used the old fashioned traps too - worked a treat!0 -
you could just explain the kitchens closed and that you would prefer it to leave and if it ignores kind requests then i have a cat you can borrow

ahh I have had fun trying to get rid of mice,ha not!
my problem was they were coming from my neighbour,I got some advice & you have to fill any gaps that you can get a pen through, thats how small a gap they can squeeze through,I used wire wool to block the holes..I tried traps the humane one & they never went near it,I tried old fashion traps & they never worked,I tried glue traps & the mouse unsuck itself from it,when I pulled out the glue trap it was covered it fur!(anyone seen a bald mouse?)
I then put poison down & filled every tiny gap I could find.the problem is when they die they could be under your units rotting away & that stinks.
Good luck.0
