My theory as to why people are scared of mice is that it's because the mice move so quickly that folk get a fright? Only a thought....
The sonic micekillers might work for the first while, but after that the mice/rats will get used to the noise and have been known to come back. I've been told that by several professional pest controllers.
Your best bet is to lay traditional traps and get them that way.
Not all local authorities offer a pest control service, I'm afraid. But check with your local council. There's likely to be a charge for the service too.0 -
thank you for your reply think your quite right with your theory .well i cleaned n scrubbed till im fit to drop .lol wasnt filthy .but made me feel better ,ive put down poison down , ,and ive put traps too , il get rid of the bluddy ,thing/s one way or another .,gg xx0

Previously we always used traps to "get rid of them" baited them with Cadburys Caramel - always caught within 24hrs...... Just to add we usually got at least 2 a year in the cold weather......
Last year we got one of the sonic plugs - in our dining room pluged in 24/7 since we got that (touch wood) we haven't had any little friends.It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
housing associations are notorious for mice, the flats are built the same and the mice often run around central heating systems and pipe to get from one flat to the next.
treating individual flats is a problem, reinfestation usually occurs due to individual tennants not realising they have a problem (due to poor eyesight) or not carring they have a problem.
reinfestation doesnt take long
best approach is to find the holes they are entering by. look for central heating pipes, pipes rear of fridges and cookers, bathrooms. pull them all out and seal using wire wool and a foam gun.
if your systematic about this you will acheive success but it is painstakingly slow. dont accept its an impossible task. ive done it hundreds of times.
once youve sealed up all entry points you need to look at getting rid of your mice.
use traps with chocolate or peanuts. your own personal hygiene needs to be very good. mice dont eat much. about a fifth of a packet of crisps a day in weight.
your housing association may have a contract with a pest control company. get them out and ask what YOU can do to help. they wont solve the problem without you contributing to the treatment.

We live on a Farm and have 10 cats, they are always bringing in mice, dead and alive, drives me crazy, but on the up side, a live mouse in our house lasts on average no more than 2 minutes !. One thing we have noticed is that mice can get in or under the tinnest gaps, there must be a gap of literally no more than 1/4 of an inch under the door to our utilty room and I saw a mouse get under it, it was like he flattened himself out completely !. The proper house pest is the Glis Glis, now they take some getting rid of and are a protected species so you cant kill them, but they get in your loft and literally eat though the wooden framework of the house. We have loads of them in our area and even people who come on nature walks to look for them, the last guy who came looking for the famed Glis Glis was all kitted out with a caving light on his hat etc etc, I didnt have the heart to tell him that one of my cats had killed two of them earlier in the day :eek:
I was so intrigued I had to google Glis glis and find out what on earth it was, just incase anyone else is wondering (or am I the only ignoramus amongst OSers) its an edible doormouse - damn those Romans!!!Slightly bitter0 -

This thread has made me recall when my girls were very young. We caught the mice in the humane mouse trap, baited with chocolate. Carried the trap across the field, emptied the trap into a bucket, two small faces admired 'their' finds before releasing the mouse.
I reckon the mice followed us home most days!0 -

That's what happened in my previous flat - they dissapeared for a bit but came back after a while. I saw them walkind around right in front of the sonic plug in thing and it didn't seem to bother them at all!! Also, out of the 4 I bought 2 seemed to malfunction as I could clearly hear them beeping.:mad:"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

well I've still got mine, tried everything I can think of so far on the traps, Mars Bars, bread and peanut butter, cheese. The cheese was partially succesful at least he liked that, took the cheese off but trapped didn't catch the mouse, he's done that twice so he seems quite an intelligent little thing.
The dog just seems to accepted him as another pet I think, at least he shows no interested what so ever when the mouse ran past him. :rolleyes:
