We bought some old fashioned 'little nipper' traps and used some old chocolate spread as bait.

For several nights we were catching 2 and 3 at a time, we caught 12 in all - eek!

We used these too, baited with jam doughnut, got 7 of the swines and then got a cat!

Im another advocate of the "little nipper" traps from experiance and after much trial and research.. a little chunk of mars bar!! lol They just cant seem to resist it!

Although the "consequences" of the traps are not always nice!! I cant deal with them so have to call my parents who live 5 mins drive away to come and "dispose" of any bodies.... :o lol

cats cats cats - I have 6 and they will go for anything that moves including the giant spiders from hell that turn up this time of year, mice do not stand a chance - I just hope you like cats, if not phone the council and have a bit of a wait and lots of chemicals - good luck
  • Basically wondering what has come out of people using these devices, B n Q seem to doing well but the primrose device that a few people had tried seems not be working?? am I right in that assumtion??

I knew we had the problem of pests in the area, over a yr ago! I believed I saw one in our communal bins. but there has been some "emergency" cleaning just started up and I nervous to think that has driven these pest in search of new homes, being mine!! Oh how I regret leaving my windows open for the fresh air!!! :(

downstairs is alright due to solid flooring up stairs is another matter wooden floorboard which has space between that and the ceiling below which has the pipes nicely heating up the area for them!!! my sister said she could hear scratching on the outer ceiling, naive me thought that these were pigeons!! (how I laugh now!!) I can't get a cat, unless I buy one!! don't want traps don't care if you can't see them inside!! so going to call council tomorrow. Lucky I was going to make peppermint treats with lo but that has splashed all over the floor lol.
I am really worried  as the sound I hear is very loud as if it is a heavy creature (I am thinking Rat here). or perhaps my ceiling is just thin.
going to buy lots and lots of peppermint oil and try B n Q sonic device thingie!!
sorry to ramble it is 00:59 and I am too scared/worried to sleep! talking helps lol thanks for allowing me to ramble on. heheh:rotfl:

    Hi all,

    I've got mice

I've put traps down, put down poison bait boxes - the little blighters don't seem to take it. I thought I had got rid of them, but 5 mins ago I screamed cos one ran across the kitchen and disappeared under the washing machine.

I read quite a long old thread on here about mice and the reoommendations were traps and bait boxes...but what do I do if these don't work???

I'm really worried about this....suggestions please!
  • You gotta find where they are coming in from. If your in a flat, they could be living in the cavaties of the walls. Where the waste from the sink goes through the wall has sometimes a gap big enough for them to get in. Fill all gaps with cement(1 part cement+ 5 parts sand) or ready mix.

Thanks Dowloadan. I live in a semi. Do you think it could be worth putting some bait boxes under the floor boards? The kitchen floor is concrete but I have an open plan downstairs, and am doing quite a bit of work on the house so there are gaps between the floorboards in the sitting room...I suppose they could be living in the cavity wall between the semis..is that possible? :(

Have you tried this trap? It worked like a charm for the mice in our garage.

We had mice (despite having a dog AND a cat!) and tried traps - but they vanished after our landlords had the cavity walls insulated (not because of the mice!). A bit drastic and expensive I know, but it may help if you were thinking of having it done?
