We have a total holding of ~ £84k - every month this year we have "won" with a maximum of £450 last month. HOWEVER, this month neither of us has won with the new rate of 4.65% - presumably this reflects the reduction in the number of smaller prizes!
Current prize odds are 21,000:1. Back in FY20-21 they were not too dissimilar at 24,500:1 and on a FH I only won once in the first 6 months, with 8 blanks in the year, although the odds had reduced to 34,500:1 by the end of that period.
  • £175 (25,50,100) for me this month on around £39.5K for me so I'm happy enough with that
2023 so far £1,100 including the big win back in June so it still keeps me around the average expected return.
3 draws remaining in 2023 so lets see what happens to then!

    Save £12,000 in 2024: £17,500 out of £12,000.
    Save £12,000 in 2025: £0 out of £12,000.

I put X amount of money into the bonds on 1st Sep. However, it says the first draw is November because you have to wait a full calendar month. Does it now make sense to withdraw and put back in around the end of September? In the mean time, I can earn interest on a current account. Have I understood right?
Actually, if you've not already withdrawn... I think they cancel the oldest bonds first? So the ones you just bought will still wait for the Nov draw.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong (and apologies if that's the case)
You’re right, the oldest bonds get cashed first, but they do have an online form to request specific bonds to be cashed. I used it last month as I wanted to leave a £25 bond from 1985 in the draw (sentimental reasons, as it was one I had given to me in my younger years, although I’ve never won anything on it). It was very quick, requested withdrawal day after the draw and money was in my bank account two days later.

Thanks both. I had some that are eligible for October so I filled the form for the latter bonds. I wouldnt have found this if you both hadnt mentioned! It does say up to 8 days to clear though..!
I did this the other day as I wanted to withdraw winnings from 2021 - 2022 and was v quick. I requested the 14 blocks on the 3rd September the money was in my account today.

    Good luck everyone.

    I've had 2 x £100 on £22k holding - that's 9 x £100 prizes in 2023, so I'm really glad they increased their numbers.

It brings my rolling year return to 5.45% and an average return per draw, since I first bought, of £80.55 (£1,450 over 18 draws - including 5 months with nothing) - my holding has fluctuated over that time from £100 to the max for 5 draws, but been around £20k for most of this calendar year.

£300 on full holding. I was telling myself I was finally going to cash in a big chunk of my PB this week after not brilliant results this year, and the moment I do I end up winning a half decent amount.

I've now decided I'm going to tell myself the same thing every month now..
