How many months does one have to earn nothing on a full holding to equal the odds of earning a million?

The MSE calculator has the odds of winning nothing from a full holding over six months (1 in 268,408) as less likely than winning a million from that holding over that period (1 in 146,851) - they don't publish the equivalent for five months but the 'nothing' return would be more likely than the million over that timeframe, so the answer is effectively six....
  • Hi All,

Started investing in stocks a few years back. too much up and down for me with Covid etc. sold most, kept some long term holdings. Moved a lot to PB.

Currently holding investing since March £39.2K.

    Winnings so far £1775.
Won £1150 this month and £550 in July.
    Few 25s in between.

As an aside I have an old single paper premium bond that I've held since birth, which I can't seem to check as obviously it is not linked to my holder number so can't use the online checker.
I had an old paper £1 bond and sent it NS&I to add to my holding. It's an exhausting process, you need to complete and form and get a professional person to witness my signature. I went through the process and they lost the first form and I had to do another. A lot of work for a £1 bond.
I have £21 old paper bonds, in various small denominations. They were there when, or shortly after, I first registered for online access. I certainly didn't need a professional to witness anything, though I may have filled in a form long ago when holder's numbers were first introduced.

I did mine about 3 months ago. It dates from 1957 so that's maybe why I had to verify my identity.
  • Holy prizes batman!

    Hot on the heels of £325 last month, I had  another £300 this month 2 x £100 and 4 x £25.

This is on the max holding.
