    According to NS&I, the odds of winning (a prize, not a specific amount) is 24,500 to 1. So by rights, if you hold £24,500 in there you will always should on average (over the long term) win a prize each month or am I getting this all wrong?

    It's why you see some people who grumble at winning £25 on a full £50k holding when others win 4 x £25 on a £10k holding (or something similar) - it's the luck of the draw (even if a number of theorists seem to believe that newer bonds have a better chance of winning than older bonds - or other such ideas...)
