Individual results get published just before midnight on the day of the draw, so I'll be checking at around 11:30 PM tonight.

Don't think it's worth missing my precious sleep for another duff result although with all our costs rising so rapidly now a big one would very nice!

According to NS&I, the odds of winning (a prize, not a specific amount) is 24,500 to 1. So by rights, if you hold £24,500 in there you will always win a prize each month or am I getting this all wrong?

Yes - you’re getting it all wrong. Odds relate to the fact that for every 24500 bonds in circulation - one will win.

If you own 24500 bonds - yours might not be one of the ones that win. 

Person A - 24500 bonds - bond numbers  ABC00001 - ABC24500
Person B - 24500 bonds - bond numbers - DEF00001 - DEF24500
Person C - 24500 bonds - bond numbers - FER00001 - FER24500

1 in 24500 bonds means likely on the 93500 total bonds above there would be THREE prizes.

Random draw takes place - and the winners are:

ABC13450
FER19340
FER00345

Person 1 has won one prize 
Person 2 has won nothing 
Person 3 has won two prizes

The random prize number generator picks from the total bonds available - not from each individuals holdings.

Yes, that's correct, the results (other than the high value prizes) are published tomorrow, although (as above) they might be visible slightly before midnight tonight.
