My OH bought 40,000 Bonds in February 2019, he's had £25,£50, or £100 every month except one since!
Can anyone tell me how long it takes for them to pay winnings into a set up account?  Thanks.

I usually wait until I get an email infrming me that I've won a prize. It always seem's to come on or around the 6th of the month.
Is that when it is paid in?
Last month a couple of £25's were  paid into my account on the 8th. This tends to be around the same time each month. If you win, an email will arrive on or around the 6th and the payment appears in your account a couple of days later.

Trying to learn something new every day.

    ;)

If you buy Premium Bonds online can you still get prizes in the post and does anyone know how easy is it to buy bonds via another NS&I account (Income Bonds etc.) ?

You can no longer get prizes by post (new customers have had that facility removed). If you are an existing holder, almost every time you log in you will be nagged about it, with an option "Yes: Do it electronically and get prizes faster", or "No: I want to wait for my money because I'm stupid and like to waste paper". You will eventually give in :)
Hard to understand why anyone would want to get sent cheques in the post...

Just brought a load after closing my Beehive Money account which has dropped to 0.05%. Very easy to buy if you already have and NS&I account number - just buy them with your debit card.

5 x £25 this month on 50k. My biggest monthly win since investing in PBs about 2 years ago.
Wow that is almost more impressive than winning one million  :D

I can tell that you've never won the one million. ... :)
What is remarkable this month is that one of the £1m prizes was won by a bond only purchased two months ago - so in its first draw.

Well by my calculations DH's £20 holding over the last 40 years will have had 9600 individual bond entries.

So that's like holding £9600 for one month
    or £4800 for 2 months
    or £3200 for 3 months
    or £800 for a year!!!

So it's pretty clear why he's never won anything!!     Although I'm sure there will be winners of at least a £25 prize that have only held £800 for a year.     He's not giving up hope just yet!!  ;)
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
  • I have £14,000 invested. I have only won £25 this year. Hoping I will have another win tomorrow. Good luck everyone!
