  • So they are dropping the rate again and once more its the number of lower prizes that will reduce. Why on earth they don’t axe one of the £1 Mil prizes instead and share the money amongst the smaller prizes. On this forum there are always people who take delight at winning one of these small amounts. At least we would get some small return on our savings as the chances of winning that top prize is next to an impossible dream. With interest rates on savings now so low and inflation so much higher, money in Building soc’ or Premium bonds etc are gradually losing value day by day. Anyone with Debts like mortgage, car loans etc would be much wiser paying off the debts rather than saving. Better to get full value rather than waiting 5years and then finding you can only buy half as much as you could have today.

Trying to learn something new every day.

I've not seen any signs of the new rate disproportionally disadvantaging the lower value prize seekers.  Personally, I'd not shed a tear if both million pound prizes were got rid of - but I'm an investor, not a gambler.
I notice that the prize fund for March is expected to top £100m - maybe for the first time...
and ready to drop back after the rate change.... :s
The ones really suffering will be holders of Income Bonds. Their rate drops by over one third.

I've had £2 for around 60 years!  Not a win in sight, although I've had a couple of wins with the £5k I bought a couple of years ago.  I am fairly certain I am never going to get rich off them.

Had an email from Which about the winners for this month, on https://www.nsandi.com/ I can't see March results though, only February. When I log in under prize history it shows nothing. First month my bonds have been 'active', £40k of them, I guess starting off with nothing.

The winners aren't announced until tomorrow so it seems the email was a tad misleading!

That is what I thought originally as I had read usually the 2nd working day of the month.

It mentions the £1m winners at least.
This month, the two £1m jackpot prizes were won by bond holders in Cambridgeshire and Norwich.
The Norwich winner is a woman with investments worth £50,000, and purchased her winning bond number (250KD320334) in July 2015.
A man in Cambridgeshire is the second millionaire, who has a holding of £15,700. He purchased his winning bond (334AX125846) in July 2018; it’s part of a bond worth just £25.

The high value prizes were announced here today - https://www.lovemoney.com/news/13635/premium-bonds-winners-have-i-won
£1,000,000 down to and including £5,000 winners.
The low value prizes will be announce tomorrow morning (Wednesday) here - https://www.nsandi.com/prize-checker
As someone has already mentioned, it would be nicer and much fairer if there was just the one £1,000,000 winner in order for many more lower value prizes to be won. The chances of actually winning £1,000,000 is very, very low.

Given the heat being generated here, there'd probably be a vote for MORE one million pound prizes. ;)
Take a sleeping pill, get a good night's sleep and then log in to see whether it is champagne all the way - or just Tizer.
And be happy that some xxxx managed to win £100,000 on a £1,100 holding... :#
