  • Prize checker says £25 but NSI account says won nothing

Looks like they've updated the prize checker before the online accounts this month

Zilch for the 2nd month running on £40K. Hopefully the law of averages will mean I'm in for a bumper couple of months in the new year :-)

3 x £25 - I'm averaging 1.6% over the year. Tax free it beats any instant access savings account.

However when savings become tax free in April then PB's won't be as attractive.

Is there any truth in the premise that purchasing blocks of PBs, is better than buying a series of the £100 minimum?

That's just an old wife's tale. Each bond has the same chance of winning.

Well in my case (if this helps, Trademark) I had £1,200 worth, which I bought during the mid-'80/90s and won £950 in that time; last win was around Dec'13 of £25.

I have bought some recently, so it'll be interesting to prove your theory (albeit a decade on from your post) wef Jan.'16, when the PBs are 'eligible'!
  • 4 x £25 on max holding, which is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.:j

Ninety-year-old Dad 'won' 2 x £25 on £30,000 (I think) holding. It'll go to his head. Mark my words.
