  • So far none of the millionairs have posted on this thread. I have wondered if the million prize exists

How gutted am I. I'm a man from the west midlands with 10k in premium bonds and started buying them in 2009........and it wasn't me (thats one of the winners btw)

The chances of winning are slim, now, for me, the chances of another person in the west midlands with 10,000 in bonds winning is even slimmer. Should I cash mine in? thats the question.

Why would anyone be surprised that a millionaire hasn't posted here? Just to be flooded with PMs?

Why, do you think the random number generator that picks the winners avoids giving the prize to people who live in the same region as previous winners?
Should I cash mine in? thats the question.
If you previously thought the chances of winning were good enough then that hasn't changed, so unless you need the money for something else then "No".
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
  • The third consecutive month without a win on the maximum holding.
I've been fairly fortunate in the past so I can't complain.

It was announced last year that the investment limit will rise to £50,000 in 2015 but I haven't been able to find a precise date.
Perhaps I've been looking in the wrong places or using the wrong search terms.
Does anyone know if a precise date has been announced?

This is a classic error when understanding probability. For example:

Q: If you toss a coin 10 times and it comes up heads every time what are the odds of it coming up heads next time?
    A: 50%

Previous results have no effect on future random events. Unless the coin is double headed of course!

No, the government budget announcement at the time they announced the new £40k limit was just that 'during 2015/16' it would be increased again. The £40k came in on 1 June but that's no guarantee they would work to that date for the next one.

    Thanks bowlhead99

It had also occurred to me that HMG might choose the same date for 2015/16 as they did for 2014/15.

The pre-Election budget might spring a surprise, of course.
  • Just dropped by to say I had my very first ever premium bond win....cheque for £25 arrived today in the post. I have a small holding of only £500 so was pleasantly surprised.
