Simple confirmation bias I'm afraid. Have you checked that it's the new bonds that are winning?

Although equally logically fallacious - have you considered that it may be the frequent selling and buying that is causing the barren spells? :)
  • Oh no - it's never the new ones that win. It simply seems to jolt things along with existing ones. No I have no explanation - only offering up what happens to me.

My PC (on all three browsers) is still only showing the Oct 13 draw.

  • Go into your nsandi account. Not just the Premium Bond numbers/winners. It'll be there if you've won along with your total holdings.

£25 again for me! If I have a barren spell (say 2/3 months)- I sell some and then buy back. Always, always I win. So although folk say numbers don't have any bias - just try it and see......somehow it always works that I win. Not big amounts mind.....but these £25 once or twice a month all add up.

Mmmm, I find that if there's a full moon with a week of the draw I always win aswell ;)

The nature of the random draw means you might win nothing for a few months, then win might several prizes in one momth

The fact is even if you average 2 x £25 'wins' a month on the max. £30K holding, it's still less than the rate of inflation so its really a loss.

There isn't much that isn't a loss in real terms, at least not without risk.

I have a few quid's worth of PBs, and to date, my IR is 1.18% (and because PBs are tax free, that'd be the equivalent of 1.48% for an ordinary rate tax payer). That compares pretty favourably with instant access savings accounts at present.

Yes, I did that. No winnings that I can see. I have the maximum holding so the prize (if I had won) wouldn't be added to the total.
This is the first month I have had the maximum. I had hoped for a win. :o

But pretty poorly compared to a guaranteed 3% (or taxed 2.4%) in an interest paying current account

I'm not sure what would happen now then - obviously they couldn't add it to your max holding - I guess they'd contact you or send a cheque or something? Anyone know?
