How is this for an idea to fill in the time between premium bond prize draws. Use a premium bond prize simulation program ! You can click on your mouse for every month and see if you won something with your virtual stake. This software could be networked and have millions of players. This software is fully vapourware. It might be out before Duke Nukem Forever and Microsoft Vista.

Last quip purloined from https://www.theinquirer.net . Why can't they televise the draw ? It would make interesting viewing compared to many shows.

Well done Pobby, but I wonder if you'll see your winnings taper off month by month.

Ernie certainly seems to, er, favour the newest bonds.

I ain't suggesting nothing, but these are my wins....£200...150...100...50...

Can anyone see a pattern there?

    Random?

    Hmmmmm....

Anyone else noticed this with their own holdings? You have to have started with at least 24,000.

Although I have these as a bit of fun it's starting to get ridiculous..!

    Month - Hold - Win - 3%
    August - 2000 - 0 - 5
    Septem - 2000 - 0 - 10
    Octobe - 2000 - 50 - 15
    Novemb - 2000 - 0 - 20
    Decemb - 2000 - 0 - 25
    January - 5000 - 0 - 37.5
    Februar - 5000 - 0 - 50
    March - 12000 - 0 - 80
    April - 12000 - 0 - 110
    May - 22000 - 0 - 165
    June - 22000 - ? - 220

Need to win 170 next month to get back to 3%. Savings account beckons if it's a 0 next month I think.

pkrnts ... your making me nervous now ..... as that is alot of money in interest to lose over 7 months

stick with it or encash ... your choice now ? ...... cant even say reinvest as they all seem fairly new

i had max holding a few years ago £20,000 then ... didnt win for 11 months .

    bought another £2000 last month

no wins for me in may ..........

    holding .......... £16,450

    Again, the following rules apply:

You need to be a top rate taxpayer
You need to invest at least 24,000 quid
You need to have maxed out your cash ISA

If all of these don't apply, then premium bonds probably aren't worth bothering with.

Hi Mean----yes I`m kinda surprised @ this as well.My cousin has a large holding and doesn`t do well.My OH will be in the draw next month with 29k of bonds. We have just had an investment out.

This is interesting regarding the fact that selection does seem to favour newer bonds.Of course,NS&I will tell you different
    any ideas?
