...that if you are paying for something you should get an acceptable level of service - note I don't say GOOD because I don't think that's on offer in many places these days and if I waited for that then I'd be waiting a long time. The level of apathy in many areas is sky high, I worked in Customer Services for an engineering firm a while back and never treated anyone in a manner that I wouldn't find acceptable myself. How hard is it to be pleasant, apologize if you get something wrong and try to do it better next time? It's NOT difficult, people just can't be bothered. I appreciate that some places get it right, but many many more don't but we still give them our money because very often there's little other choice, or it's as bad, and that's why they get away with it.

    Rant over.

I have used ASDA online for over a year --- always used money-off codes, am unhappy when I "only" get free delivery. I always plough a few multi-deals onto my order and usually get ~50 quid of shopping (a normal weekly shop) for ~40 quid delivered.

Delivery is always within the correct time period... if they want to delivery early they always phone me. I have the same two-or-three guys deliver... pull up right outside my house and bring the bags to my door. They have always been cheerful (well, they are at work, what do you expect!) and pleasant enough to chit-chat and always take the time to say hi to the kids [who help take the bags into the kitchen!].

All-in-all, hearing everyone's terrible stories of ASDA I thought I would take the time to report that not always is it bad... just people tend not to post when service is good! I feel sorry for the people in apartments, or where the roads do not go near your front/back door --- but then again, I would not expect a "home delivery" if there was no way a delivery could be made to my home!

I have to agree , i have had a faultless time with asda online

Free delivery off £25 shop at Asda M3-RP-CW-K3
just got it and it seems to work.
  • Asda have finally begun to deliver in our area, got a flyer in my free paper free deliver on order over £25 M4-DD-EW-V2 Won't be using them whilst tesco has a 1000 pointer on £50!
  • Before deciding not to use it because of the Tesco offer, I would do your order through www.mysupremarket.com. I do my Asda shop using their interface, and it tells me how much it would be at Tesco and sainsbury's. Even with the points and £15 off codes, tesco's usually comes to £15-20 more for the same order, and that is withy 5-10 items not available.

As a result of putting my concerns (two hour late del, short dated food, missing refund, misleading prices on website) directly to the Eastlands store instead of Customer Services and threatening to take my custom to Morrisons, I have just received two £10 off vouchers and a free delivery and I've just placed an order for tomorrow evening (would have been churlish not to) using all three vouchers. Unfortunately they were put directly into my e-vouchers 'box' on the website so I haven't got any codes to share - sorry!

The store said that they had had no phone calls from CS, have taken on board my common sense suggestion that a late driver isn't going to have the time to phone everyone to say he is going to be late, refunded the £26 to my card outstanding from 31 July and the website has been changed on the items that I had ordered on 31 July on offer and was charged full price for (and subsequently returned hence the outstanding £26 refund).

So the moral of the story is: don't let them give bad service and get away with it, and if your shopping comes from Eastlands, phone and speak directly to Rachel, who actually provided the good customer service that we used to get in the 'olden days'
