Dog on dog aggression

dont spay the youngest, this will have nothing to do with the fact that theyre at one anothers throats. and quite honestly, if this was the case, the vet would give you no other option but to suggest this as well as the breeder.

does this happen more often when you and i mean just you are about? does it happen in other ppls presence? im wondering if theyre picking up on something that way? to be fair you got to wonder if theyre happy with this behaviour as well, but im not going to get into that, cos thats just going to turn 'biatchy' lol

try another behaviourist, (sp) even try contacting that one from the telly, i forget who she is, do you know how im on about? maybe she has a website somewhere, im not seeing much progress from the one you have already, but im thinking if you get hold of this one from the telly, it might well end up being free being as theyd want to make a program out of it lol x

Thanks for all your replies. I have found them really helpful. Lots of you talk about being 'top dog'. I feel that I am now in charge of the pack and am pack leader although the older dog has struggled with this as when we got her I admit I treated her as a human baby. I carried her and kissed her and did all the things that you look back and think why did I do that?! Hindsight is a brlliant thing. The younger dog has always been treated as a dog although we like a cuddle now and again!!

If anyone thinks they'd like to help then I am up for home visits!!! I want to sort this out and will try anything!!

Yeah, I thought about it being just me as well but it's not. It happens with my husband and others as well. Although...some days it won't happen at all and the older one won't have had the muzzle on!

I must admit that I am very stressed with it all, love both dogs equally, don't want to rehome either of them and just want to sort it!

Yes, I DO know who you mean...'the woman off the telly'....she's the one 've already had in and I am now in the process of consulting someone else.

try dog borstal as well haha, and you can treat your dogs how you want to, its just the way theyre behaving at the moment, and you need to find a way to solve it

She gave some suggestions for shifting the leadership to me but no good suggestions for the aggression.

when you say you crate them, what about using a stair gate between them instead or do you already do this? rather than lock them up, or put muzzles on them ..... ummm im trying to think lol theyd probably jump them ill bet x

maybe they just dont get on..... or that you arent as 'alpha' as you think... miund you I'm sure I've seen progs where the 'alpha'; dog has to split fights between the females.....would having 'hubby' as alpha help do you think?...

im only in watford and would happily meet up with you if you think it would help, the agression should sort itself out once you re-establish yourself as top dog, at the moment the older one thinks your incapable of leading the pack and so is attempting to do it for you by providing discipline, when they are both secure in your leadership qualities then you will be seen as the discipline giver, there are many ways to become top dog-

I guess they are like us, sometimes two adults don't get on they argue then split up or like two teenagers living in the same house, this may be the same for dogs, maybe they just don't like each other.
