Holland Anyone??

We're having a short break in Holland soon....... (why? you ask, well it seemed like a good idea at the time of booking!).
Anyway, we're doing the Keycamp thing (we're regular Keycampers in France, but Holland is a first), and I was wondering if anyone has been to Holland, especially self-catering, and can give me an idea as to the prices in supermarkets.
Many many many thanks!!

Hi. Done holland a few times. From what I can remember the problem for us was that they didn't take credit or debit cards so everything had to be in euros. I would certainly check with Keycamp before you go.
Prices similar to here, not as cheap as France but certainly not as steep as Germany can be.
As for Holland itself, we really liked it, people very very friendly and as always on the continent, spoke perfect English"Sumptus censum ne superet"

Yeah..whatever :rolleyes:0 -
Holland is a lovely place - great countryside, friendly people and the campsites are really good. Plus, the chips are to die for!
I'm afraid I can't advise on the prices though because it's years since I went.
Hope you have a great trip! Oh and hire bikes :-)0 -
love holland. lots to do and see but dont tell everyone or they'll go!
cant really comment on prices as we havent been for a few years. however in general I didnt find it expensive.
can recommend eftling for kids if you are in that area. lots of good museums and yes definitly hire bikes.x x x0 -
Just to add, you'll be able to get anything that you'd get here, over there, so don't panic and pack the car to bursting. Save that for the beer on the way back"Sumptus censum ne superet"

I assume you are going to Dunriell? We have been 6 times.
It is an excellent site and if you have kids they will think it is brilliant.
couple of things:
- e-mail Keycamp and ask to be placed in the MIddenvel (Middlefield)
- don't rely on credit cards, take cash
- if going to Amsterdam - use the Park and Ride system - cheap - KC will give you details on site
- supermarket (C1000) is in the town and is a new modern shop with everything you could want - prices a little unsure but i don't remember it being that expensive.
- Hire bikes and cycle to Schrivergn beach/pier through the dunes - wonderful exercise before you have some lovely chips and ice-cream !!
- do not think you are quick enough to get out of the way if you stand in front of the 'cubicle' of the Splash ride, you will probably fall over and look a fool and get very very wet !
enjoy your trip.0 -
I am going to Duinrell in October and the kids are already wetting their knickers with excitement. I recently went on a day trip to Rotterdam and to be honest once you take into account the weak pound against the Euro prices for things for us worked out almost the same. I am going to France in a weeks time I hope it is as nice as Rotterdam and the surrounding area was.Loving the dtd thread. x0
