Thank you for all your messages, only just had a look at them as am returning to normality now.
Must have a bit of post marathon blues as sat fed up at work, but I think such a long time training for something and then for it all to be over it is inevitable that I am going to hit the ground with a bump.
Going to try and rise above the current financial nightmare, it is normally at this point that I panic and then just spend anyway as I don't feel I have anything to lose.I always knew this weekend was going to be expensive with three evening meals out, we packed lunch for Friday, had a cheap pasta take out for Sat lunch and had bought sandwiches to put in our kit bags for after the marathon. We didn't buy anything when we were there, it was just the cost of getting around on the tube and eating, alcohol cost only became an issue on sunday night and we didn't go too overboard.
Panicked this morning, as mortgage has come out and checked on line banking. We paid for hotel with CC which we are going to repay in full when DH's bonus comes at the end of the month. BUT, we used our debit card for them to swipe when we checked in, and they have "held" a specific figure, presumably in case we did a runner. Rang the hotel who said the bank would automatically release the "on hold money" after 3 working days as the hotel wouldn't claim it and the bank have confirmed this, but our mortgage came out this morning and took us overdrawn for "available" funds, so I've had to rush to the bank and withdraw money on CC to pay in, and will have to repay the CC when the money is released again.
No idea if they'll charge us, I had paid the money in by just after 9am so will have to wait and see, will complain if they do! Haven't been over our limit for so long and felt we had done so well.
So spending diary out for the rest of the month, I always knew it was going to be tight with so much going on,just don't like it when it happens and determined not to let myself go off the rails because of it!Long haulers supporters DFW #109NR Loan #1 - £2951.18 Nov 08/0 -
Ahh Jelly babies ..you certainly have done the marathon weekend in a true debt free wannabe way so have not overspent and at the end of the day it's a yearly event and surely you are allowed treats...you have done exceptionally well for your charity.
it's a temporary blip with the overdrawn bit and if they try to charge you ..can you not appeal to their better nature..as you don't normally get overdrawn.
Are you going to carry on running to do next years marathon?0
