  • When I asked how many payments I had left and his reply was 99   - kind of sums it up.

So yes, it WILL be paid off early come hell or high water! Can't wait to make that first overpayment but decided to concentrate on CC's first as the credit crunch frightens me incase we don't get credit so easily next time.

Oh the days when I will be debt free and £1,000 a month better off...............one day.................

Morning JB! Sounds like a good plan for the loan. And gosh, yes, won't it be nice when the 'debt repayment' money is actually 'our money' again...
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.

It took me an age to sort our budget out. Next month is very, very, very tight but doable! I am removing DH's cards from him and we are taking £60 per week and the cards are going in the freezer.

Know what I'm getting DD for birthday so going to start looking around for bargains and not leave it too late. We're having a DIY party at home and I will bake all the cakes to save even more money.

Also discovered on my travels this morning that I have an old Halifax card, it has nothing on it but a nice credit limit. So when egg and Virgin are up (both on the 8th November  ) my plan is to transfer Virgin to Halifax if they let me have a decent BT, and then transfer Egg to Virgin. As Virgin are MBNA in the past I have found that once you pay the card off they are more than happy to offer another deal, so all being well November is now covered *phew*

Felt a bit down before about the budget but always think it's a nice wake up call when it happens and gets me to buckle down even more.

Going to get into pj's now, put kids in bed and watch some tv with a hot chocolate :)

  • I include the whole balance on mine as per the online statement but my aim is to make sure I pay it off quicker and lower ther interest paid. I have another 6 years left on mine . I hope to half this.

At least you know where you are with the budget and its achevable better to know than bury your head in the sand which Im sure we have all done before. Hope it is easier than you think.

Tesco vouchers can be a godsend cant they?

Loans are frightening aren't they? I have worked it out though so that whatsthecost calculates the interest every month so I should always know what the settlement figure. If I don't pay it off early then I have another 99 months of debt and I couldn't cope with that.

Although money will be tight, at least I know and can't mess it up too much - or can I?

  • My mantra if thats the right word is too be happy as long as the debt figures decreases month on month. I really want it to lower alot quicker but I will be happy if this time I get rid of it all at last even if its in 6 blooming years.

Im sure youll be fine with budget you and I presume DH know its tight so youll be more careful. I find I muck up the months I think things are ok.

    Evening

Not an immensely productive few days but I'm very chilled out after a few days at home and nice time with the kids.

Went to Mr T today and decided to indulge in an energy saving plug socket, have plugged it in behind the TV so everything goes off when we turn it off apart from the phone. Hopefully this might reduce electricity bill. Also saw some remote plug sockets so we could turn the plug off in the bedroom when we have finished watching TV, or is it lazy and I should just get out of bed and turn it off :rotfl:

Have made a real effort this week though, turned off appliances at the socket where possible, nagged the kids to turn the TV off when they're not watching it. Am aware the electricity and gas will be popping through door soon and dreading it...............I must, I must change suppliers!

Need to find a cheap present for a party tomorrow and hopefully cheap weekend ahead after that.

Just thinking about what chocolate I could eat just right now.................

Hi JB ..you have been really productive so well done on what you have achieved so far.I can't wait to feel rich again when all my debts have gone...as a rough guess I pay out about £1.5k per month!!!!!!.....that's awful.
