Clarification needed - are 0871 numbers free on 3?

    Note on 3 Customer News: - As of Nov 3rd your Threepay units will change. They will no longer include calls to 084 and 087. Please refer to the price guide for more details.

    I looked at 3's standard tariff on their site. Clearly, it says that Non-geographical numbers starting 084 and 087 are charged at 10p per min in a Video Service Area and 15p per minute in a Voice & Picture Service Area. I can't imagine how these two service areas can be defined prior to you making a call!

    Also note that 0800, 0500 & 0800 (free phone) numbers are charged similarly.
