Hi i was refused dla first time and i went to c.a.b. and they are now appealing for me its worth a trip to them as they have workers who deal with dla all the time . My sister was also turned down 1st time but cab appealed for her and she got it.I hope this helps :-)0

I was awarded DLA first time, and I'd filled in the forms myself.
I've also continued to get it at the same rates (now on my third claim) so I guess I am very lucky when it comes to DLA (I just wish my health had the same luck so I could stop claiming it...).Purple Penguin Power!

Hey guys,
I submitted my DLA application on the 24th and today I got the letter thru saying I have been awarded the higher rate of the mobility component!
I must say that this has taken a weight off my mind worrying about money, as I will also qualify for the disability premium of Income Support.
Meaning that my weekly income has gone from approx £45pw to £120pw.
Thx for the advice, and I shall continue to look and post on the forum from time to time (mainly on the tech help section as before my condition I worked in IT for Citibank).
Now I can focus on the operations and getting myself better ready for work!0 -

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I was also awarded higher rate mobility at the first attempt but as was suggested earlier there was such a file of recent medical info from failed surgery, RTA etc etc, that I couldn't see anyway they could turn it down.
Hard evidence of physical disability seems to be much more readily acepted than undiagnosed issues and especially phsycological types. Not inferring anything about any claimants here just my own 1st time limited experience of the system.:oI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
middle care lower mobility, awarded first time for a year and then on reapplication awarded for 3 years. It's due out in December so fingers crossed they award it again though hopefully for longer as it is permanant disability. Does anyone know how long it will likely be awarded 3rd time round? Just out of interest.0

When I first applied for dla my claim was rejected and I ended up going to a tribuneral this had taken nearly twelve months . At the hearing I ended up with dla being awarded for 5 years (backed dated from when my claim was processed). At nearly the and my award I was contacted by letter to re apply again, I was given an indefinate award on both components0

Indefinate awards will be very unlikely as I'm only 21 though I am on several medications every day and have a pacemaker, the amount of help I need fluctuates depending on which meds I'm on but never enough for me to go up or down a care band which is nice. I just hope they don't just keep giving me 3 year awards forever and ever because it's a pain filling in the forms because they take forever. I've nothing to hide I just don't like repeating myself over and over.0
