Have caught up from not doing much yesterday, did manage to clean the bathroom while colouring my hair before going to my nephews party yesterday so felt quite efficient :D for once.

Party went really well, mum got bus to brother & SIL house and they all went to party together. Mum couldnt wait to tell me bro & SIL had big barney before they left the house bla bla bla :o I said kids and birthdays are always stressful and best to stay out of it. Mum came back to mine after  but she had tired herself out with all her ranting and raving in the car on the way back and had a nap on the sofa for over an hour so :T By the time she woke, a quick cuppa and then I deposited her at the bingo on my way to collect OH at 5.30pm, Phew!

    To do today;

    Get food shop

    Childrens/Spare rooms - Friday
Now it is Mummies time to help YOU!!! Today we are going to tidy your room.. if there are more than 1 room that needs doing.. I have 4 bedrooms for my children. We will choose the one with the youngest children in first... their rooms are usually tidied quicker and more easily.. and we will help the older ones a bit later.. after a cuppa.. or it might have to be another day but we will come help if you want!
    Level One
    Clear the floor
Finally the last 5 ebay items.. get them on and listed!!!
    Level Two
Drag the junk from under the bed.. the children should be home today so they can do this!
Sort out a box of things to give to the local nursery for the little children.. or for charity shop.. or a friend.. FLING!! The local GP surgeries, hospitals etc often need nice toys for the sick children..
    Level Three
If they are able the children can vacuum their own rooms!! 3 is grown up enough!!
While the children are home.. go through their wardrobe and get rid of everything that no longer fits.. as they are being so wonderful and helping they can try the things on so you can be sure before moving them down a child or moving them on.
    Extras
    • Wipe sticky marks from walls and doors
    • Clean any tv's, pc's playstations in the room
    • Put the discs in the correct boxes and books on shelves
Hmmm, may have to venture into DS bedroom to tidy as he is not well today and lying under a blanky on the couch. Nothing new there then! Apart from being not well ;)

Thanks gunsandbanjos - our library has the book so I might take the boys and borrow that later.

erm, I have a guilty confession:

You know the room I cleaned yesterday, well....

    Hotspotagain.jpg

I had to move the contents of our bedroom somewhere didn't I? If I hadn't sorted that room yesterday then I wouldn't have been able to strip our bedroom would I?

I did bin quite a lot but had a minor binbag problem:

Our bedroom is almost clear ready to start stripping paper and the polystyrene hard off the ceiling. DH will be pleased....

Nicki, can I join you with the Davina HHE challenge? I can do Mondays too. DVD been sat ontop of the tv so I can't forget it, but not used it since January! Congrats to all the weight loss!

No problem, not sure when I'll be doing it as I'm going to be up to my ears in decorating but I WILL do it *grits teeth* I need to. I've hit that horrible stage of loosing weight where neither a 20 or a size 18 fit me properly  Although today I'm wearing crop pants that were a little snug last summer and now I can pinch 2inches in on the waist band :D:j I really need to work on the toning up :o

MFI are ******** insert own expletives here.

Apparently the missing piece from our wardrobe is in transit, and can possibly arrive anytime between now and the 12th of April, and apparently there is nothing they can do about it. I must be stressed, as it made me have a bit of a cry.

So i got DH to ring them, where they admitted that it has only been dispatched today. So they can't give us a consignment number yet to try and track down when the blooming thing might be delivered.

so i have had to ring the joiner and say MFI are being pants - we will ring you to rearrange the fitting when they have finished being useless.

That is a complete bummer. I want all the rooms sorted before DS finishes nursery on the 18th of April, and the rate it is blooming going we have no chance. Plus i also need to try and work out when the new carpet is going to be fitted, which involves us fully emptying a room again. As if we have all the time in the world and all the energy to go with it in the 5 weeks between now and D day.

Why are big national companies so poo????

    Michelle, x

This reminds me of when we put fitted wardrobes etc in DS2 bedroom. Our problems were with B&Q, we had deliveries cancelled, when we got our first delivery it was all the trims, handles etc, no carcasses, what's the point of that? We had damaged parts which we had to wait to be replaced. We spent New Years Day 2007 doing DIY, we'd had enough and wanted it done.

On a positive note, we emailed customer services, the lady who dealt with our case was very helpful and we did get quite a bit of money knocked off at the end. Maybe you could try that.

    But like you say;

Why are big national companies so poo????

Pigpen - believe me I empathise! We did the Snug one and put a wood burner in. Our DR wall is naked, but the bricks are still in the fireplace as there is a huge crack in the wall and the supporting timber is rotten. The LR needs doing and has a gas fire to go, but I do have a reclaimed fireback cleaned up and ready to put in. Have you got a skip lined up or is there not too much mess? Are you plastering back? What are you doing about a fire? Do you have a thin layer of dust everywhere (or was that just us). Sorry so many questions - but good to talk to someone who is doing the same stuff without builders. DH can plaster etc but doesn't have that much free time to do things.

My hubby can't plaster.. but we have the number of someone who has does.. he made a grand job in the bathroom but hell does he TALK!!!! He'll do fine though I guess.

We have a thin layer of soot and dust but it appears to be confined to the middle room.. we did kep the door closed and opened the french doors so the dust went out there thankfully!!

I am looking at fires today and hopefully getting 'the' one ordered.. hubby is 'designing' the fire surround today and making it next week.. so that should be fixable by next weekend .. or the one after depending on what else comes up.

We haven't sorted a skip so everything is dumped out the front at the moment.. hopefully that will disappear shortly.. but we will sort it once we have finished I think.

we have kept the fireback and surround to put back in our room when we get to doing that.. it all came out in its proper pieces so things are looking good.. I need to strip a bit of paint off the cast iron surround and re-enamel bits but job's a good 'un.

I can't quite understand how 'decorating a room' has become rebuilding a room...
