Supermarket stealth pricing

You seem to fail to mention BOGOF's and promotions, not everything is going up in price, and its hardly stealth prices are clearly displayed on the shelves0

What industry do you work in? I bet it has a higher profit margin than Supermarket retail at around 4/5%!
So does that mean your industry has stealth profits?
Has it occured to you that sometimes wholesale prices change that frequently so this is why the retail price is changing?
I work in the chemical industry and if we just raised our prices to our customers without any forewarning, at least 80% of our customers would bellowing down the phone threatening to take thier custom elsewhere. It's the point of having the courtesy of letting the customer know. All i request is that supermarkets do the same.0 -

The problem with BOGOF's and Promotions is that usually Mr Tesco increases the price of the items about to go on offer a week before, so the BOGOF's aren't actually as good a deal as you think they are.0 -

Hi, RHYSDAD
I agree - price rises are done quietly, the price reductions ("roll backs" or whatever) are trumpeted because they are the good news to get you to spend. However I do wonder what could possibly be gained by announcing the increases - other than making you think they were being upfront about it. Really it would only go to making the rest of us feel even worse!
Enjoy the holiday.

But if all your competition had such a small margin like Supermarket retail and had to changes their prices to avoid making a loss what would your customers do then?
The prices of supermarket products are communicated via shelf edge labels.0 -
:rotfl:
Say 1% of their 100,000 items had gone up/down do you know how long that note would be!
I hope they've got big doors!0
