Hee hee, this thread made me laug out loud. Glad I'm in good company. I was totally motivated yesterday and baked an apple pie, scones adn roasted a chicken..........but the juice from the apple pie leaked into the bottom of the oven and burned and now it really need a good clean. I scraped off the worst of it then put a wet dish cloth on it to soak.............that was last night, it's still in there and I'm at work :o

which, at the end of the day is the most important thing....

I have gone off stardrops for the bathroom and onto a cif spray - I have to say it works better!

    Oh thank god!

I now use"Shower Shine" (bought large bottles cheaply at Costco) which means I never have to clean the shower screen ever again!

we changed over our lightweight quilty thing over for the winter one 3 weeks ago. Lightweight one went onto the ottomon for me to 'put in vacuum storage bags tomorrow' it's still there. so is the summer bedspread we had on before the lightweight quilty thing.

so now I have a leaning tower of lightweight quilty/summer bedspread and associated pillowcases and summer sheets waiting for me to 'put in blah blah etc.'

Oh, I forgot the foundations for the leaning tower i.e. summer garments waiting etc. blah

don't even ask about the piles of shoes waiting to go in the piles of empty boxes ..........

I thought I was doing really well tonight.

After work, I set to lining the front door curtain. I didn't even have to buy a fleece to do it-I used some old thermal curtains I had in my loft.

Unfortunately, due to gross operator stupidity, I have sewn on the lining the wrong way round. Instead of lining out, I have pattern out. And did I mention that the pattern is now on its side?

I've put the curtain up, on the grounds that nobody ever sees the lining of a door curtain anyway. And I will, I promise, put it right when I have the time and inclination. Which is likely to be never.

    Energy saving disaster no. 2.

I had another card through the door, and drove up to the sorting office again. The item that wouldn't fit through my letterbox this time was a T shirt. Yes, a T shirt in a plastic envelope. The draught excluder I fitted at the weekend (in combination, probably, with what's a truly evil hard-sprung letterbox anyway)makes it so hard to push letters through that soft items just don't go...

  • I have to confess and it is my first ever post?! Have been a silent watcher of the forums for a while now but had to reply to this one…

Firstly, thanks to all for baring their souls and making me laugh so much! Here goes…

    1) on one of the first pages of this thread there was a mention of pregnated cheese. I had a blissful 2 minutes of daydreaming about what it could be when I realised I had misread it and it was actually pregrated cheese…
    2) the reason I misread it was because I need my glasses to read the screen and I can’t find them – well, if I am honest I haven’t looked but I have no idea where they could be
    3) the dining room table is covered in junk and paperwork - so much so that even my 6 cats are weary of jumping up there as the other day one landed wrong and did a kind of paper surf halfway across it which scared him (I have a 5 ft long dining table)
    4) I haven’t cleaned the bathroom for nearly a month but I did throw some bleach into the toilet earlier today
    5) Outside my back door is a doormat which is actually growing plants, and a wet soggy tartan sock doing the same. In my defence I have no idea where the sock came from other than one of my cats brought it home one day (honest, but its an improvement to last summer when he took a wet thong from my washing machine and took it out to play in the car park out the back – I swear!)
    6) My fruit basket has 1 black banana, 2 brown bananas and 2 dry Satsuma’s (I threw out the green banana the other day when I realised that no matter how much I wanted it, the bananas were just never going to turn the same shade of brown to make banana bread all at the same time)
    7) A friend gave me a second sofa to help with my lack of seating (I have 6 cats) and it has just turned into a storage for clean washing waiting to be put away… and I am ashamed to admit that it bothers neither me or the cats as they happily sleep on it whether it is free space or not.

    I think that’s enough for a newbie…

Thanks for making me laugh - and welcome to posting!
  • I was very green today, and used public transport to go to a meeting in a city 90 miles away - two trains and a cadged lift back to the mainline station at the end of the day.
So why am I feeling un-MSE?

Because I still needed to drive to the nearest station (15 miles from home).
Because the travel costs added up to £27 including parking - I don't know for sure, but I have a sneaking feeling that a petrol claim would have been less.

    and

Because the real reason I did it was that over the weekend I saw the weather forecast for Thursday and decided that I'd far rather not be driving in torrential rain and a howling gale, when I could far more easily sit on the train instead, and have a bit of a rest.... Nothing at all to do with being green, or saving money or supporting public transport. I didn't even do it in order to get on with some work. I just wanted a rest, a listen to my mp3 and to sit there with nothing at all to do. Bliss.

I was motivated by selfish reasons, pure and simple. :o

I own 2 Irons but haven't ironed anything for over a year.

There was a sausage behind my kitchen door for over a week (according to OH, I couldn't see it)

I wrote a really long list but deleted it because it was embarassing!

If OH knew about the sausage behind the kitchen door, why didn't HE do something about it :D
