I'll put my hand up to to having done naff all in the way of housework this week.

Monday and Tuesday I was off work, but the weather was beautiful so on Monday DH and I took our mums out for the day and on Tuesday I happily pottered in the garden all day. Weds, Thurs and Fri I was so busy at work and came home totally knackered so we had beans on toast one day, omelettes another day and frozen curry on the third then collapsed in front of the telly.

The beds haven't been changed. There is a pile of washing on the uitlity room floor which is gradually spreading as we all walk over it. The cooker looks disgusting, the kitchen floor is still muddy from gardening day and although I shopped today and have plenty in we have just had a Chinese from the takeaway because we couldn't be bothered to cook.

Do I feel guilty? Nah. I might feel energetic and put it all right tomorrow, or I might not. Life is way too short to make yourself feel miserable doing stuff you don't want to. It's not life and death, it's just a bit of untidiness. There are more important things.
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • I refuse to get hung up on trying to be superwoman, I have two dd's, oh, a cat, a dog, two horses and a full time job as well as looking after two elderly relatives so having house beautiful is low on my list of priorities.

When they grow up, your children will remember the times that you spent with them - afternoons painting with Mum/Dad, walks in the park together etc...they won't remember if their pj's were dazzling white and immaculately ironed.

That is so true, as I head into my dotage the things I remember now from my childhood are the times I spent with my parents, little things, walking hand in hand with my father one Sunday morning going to collect some plants someone had promised him. My mother giving me a piggy back ride and me giggling my head off.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

My kitchen looks like a bomb site as I made blueberry muffins and butter cake yesterday and didnt wash up after. I probably shouldnt have baked yesterday as i was feeling so tired but i wanted my OH to have a treat. Im going to have to face it soon tho if I want to cook tea tonight:o

The carpet desperately needs a vacuum and dusting is well overdue. Also tho Ive done a couple of loads of washing there is still heaps to do. I have an entire basket of woolens to wash and keep putting it off, luckily poor weather has made a very good excuse;)

I seriously have to force myself out of bed to go to work so anything i do in the house atm is a bonus.

Years ago I used to dog sit for somebody with nine large dogs who lived outside during the day and came in for the evenings.
I was always mesmorised by her house because, for example, the through lounge had the sofa, chair, tv, fireplace, table and chairs at the back end and a side board.
    That was it.
Not a picture, not a photo, not an ornament ... nothing. Okay, I seem to remember a wall clock.
It was so bland and as somebody at the time who dreamt of owning her own home I just couldn't understand it and always had the urge to make it more 'homely.'
But come Fridays when the dusting needed to be done, it was a quick dash round (practically at a run) and that was it.
The kitchen and bedrooms were the same.

These days I tend to think the woman had really got her head screwed on!

Well I just checked and even THEY don't have any free time, despite shouting about it!!

Oh and hi again ;) its been a while since I felt the need to visit but now i'm here again, I rather like it again!

We have turned over the washing up leaf and now do it every night and in the day if needed. Nothing quite like getting up to a clean kitchen! As for the rest? There is a timetable which stops me getting waylayed on one job because I think somerthing else needs doing. Stops me skipping from job to job becuase I know i'm not "meant" to be doing whatever it is till tomorrow, and it will get done then...or not ;). It doesn't get stuck to rigidly...acts as an aide memoire more than anything. And DH is onboard which is wonderful considering we both work full time and he particularly works STUPID hours and is shattered the whole time. DS 2.4 is very helpful tidying toys when he is in the mood but thats not as often as i'd like. He is a one child whirlwind and can trash a room in moments if he decides thats what he wants to do!

My worst confession of the week? I left a load of washing out despite my neighbour telling me she was having a BBQ because I couldn't be bothered to go and get it...and then when I did go and get it (about a week later), i just folded it up and put it away. My DS has niffed ever so slightly of smoke all day!!

One of my friends actually said the house looked really tidy the other day which I was chuffed about! Nice that the new regieme is paying off. Especially as I have torn all the ligaments in my leg and am in a cast to my knee and I now appear to be coming down with the flu.

    It never rains it pours...

Im tired too, also fed up with being poor, in fact its all rather boring - today- but maybe tomorrow the fight will be back in me. I took the towels out of the washer after 3 days but hung them outside so hopefully they will smell ok. I made a big batch of bread dough to last the week and a birthday cake but then I sort of gave up and basically sat on my bum all evening. I know when I get up in the morning I will be annoyed with myself but it was just one of those days. Am going to grab my hot water bottle and avert my eyes from the pots and the laundry pile!

    Absolutely!!!

I have energetic days and then days where I just need to chill. I live on my own so nobody else is affected by my messy activities.
  • I have found that I am spectacularly good and being really busy, doing things that avoid the ummm housework. For example a couple of weeks ago I made some sloe and apple jelly, turned out beautifully. Laundry basket untouched of course...and now I have made the jelly I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do with it as its meant to complement game...which I don't eat.....procrastination at its best lol

Laundry basket still mostly untouched and overflowing....
Let's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:
  • I need to clean up, but I am going to the cinema with a friend tomorrow. Still wev'e arranged to go for a 3.20 showing. Maybe I will be full of energy and get it all done before I go out. Or may be I will have a lie in.
It has been a spectacularly busy week for me. Loads of appointments and things to do. I have also been doing overtime at wrk the last 2 weeks to cover holidays, so housework has gone by the board.
