I was going to change my sheets today but decided to turn them around one more turn. I'm 5 feet short and have a king sized bed so only sleep on one little corner. The sheets get turned over after a week (or two :o ), then turned around top to tail...the theory being that they'll wear evenly that way . Same with the 4 pillows, I swap the two top ones when I turn the sheets, then turn them over. That way the bottom ones don't get dirty and at a push I can leave them til the next wash.

Do you think all the turns could work with knickers? Front to back, then inside out, then back to front again while inside out?

Just joking don't worry, but I used to horrify a (now ex-) friend of mine who was very judgemental about things domestic, and I used to tell her that I do not change my knickers until I have turned them three or four times just to look at her horrified face and to get her tut-tutting me :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Well, DH & I both did it once before - we say that everyone is entitled to make a mistake....and at least we've got it right this time!

    ...back on topic...
Well there's no longer an 'overflow' pile of dirty washing next to the linen-bin, or a suitcase of dirt clothes from holiday.....problem is that now almost everything is clean, the 'floordrobe' in the bedroom has reached gigantic proportions. This morning the cat knocked over one of the piles and I was trapped in the bedroom for 5 mins when I got up (late and in dire need of the loo of course!) as couldn't I open the door until I had moved it all. Now that pile is all heaped on the bed. Will I sort it out when I get home? - probably not, it'll probably just go back to being another pile on the floor again......

Hi a newbie here, but can I join the `club`?

I thought that was my bedroom you were describing there for a mo` except I don`t have a cat - the dogs wouldn`t be impressed. Must admit I panic slightly if someone calls unexpectedly, but then think - Well they can take me as I am or just stay away.

:T Here goes, confession being good for the soul and all that:

I have not cleaned the windows since we moved to this house - six years ago!!

Rather than clean my oven, I brought a new one.

By the time I got round to ironing DD posh frock, she'd outgrown it, and it was 'snug' on DD2 who is 4 years younger!

I was very grateful for all that snow because all the bird poo on my car chipped off and it looked better - but I was wondering if I went through a speed camera if they'd be able to see my numberplate?

    My toilet is dusty.

Empty crisp packet count from under DD1 bed =13. Also discovered that the dog had used her dirty washing pile to wee and nobody had noticed. The only clue was a dried out stain....

I found the best solution to tackling the dirty washing mountain is to buy a new washing basket, so we have 3 and it still piles on top!

I'm seriously considering knitting a dog hair jumper, as there is a never ending supply from our Jack Russell.Where does it all come from?

I honestly cannot find a clutter free surface through the entire house.

Believe me, that's just the tip of the iceberg....but I do feel beter for getting that lot off my chest. Thanks MSE!! I feel like I've found some soul mates!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was almost expecting to read 'upside down'. Mind you, if you put one leg in the leg hole, and the other in the waist, then follow your method above, the wear quadruples :rotfl:

    g'morning ampersand

I never get to bed til 3'ish...I'm late tonight:rolleyes:. It explains why I never get to see the beautiful dawns we have occasionally...slovenly, me, but it does allow me chat with friend in the shakey isles who has just sat down with an afternoon cuppa.

Hope you get your pashmina, they're really the most useful items. Slovenly again, I've yet to get my pass but as I can only walk 50 yards without wheezing I need the car, expensive though it is. My excuse anyway..

    Right, to bed..night a ;)
  • Can I make a confession on behalf of my DD, I've just spent the week with her helping her with the children as she's been in hospital overnight. I had the washing machine & tumble dryer on continously everyday, I didn't even get to the bottom of her washing baskets, never mind getting through the stuff all over her bedroom floor, lol.
Her house is in absolute chaos all the time, she has 2 children, her OH works days & she works nights. It is just the was my house was when she & her siblings were little.

Do we share a DD, Hester? Mine is exactly the same but with three children! She 'bin-bagged' her OH about 4 weeks ago and is STILL working her way through his dirty clothes. He should think himself lucky - I would have bagged clean and dirty together just to be rid of them .

When she's been on holiday in the past, I've had her keys and gone through her house like a 'dose of salts' so that she comes back to a fresh start. Once found 67 (yes 67:eek: ) odd socks (from behind sofa, under sofa, under cushions, bathroom floor, under beds, toyboxes, behind washing machine, in the garden) and put them in a huge carrier bag for her - she didn't bat an eyelid.

I'm so anal about socks - I used to count them into the washer, out again, into the spin dryer and then onto the line :o - so maybe this is a reaction against my attitude (which in it's turn was a reaction against my mother's attitude ). I sooooo remember my two younger sisters being upset and embarassed at having to go to school in odd socks because some had gone missing in the wash. Didn't happen to me as I bought my own stockings for school (at 5ft10ins - I looked stupid in socks anyway ;)).

Oh my! I'm definitely going to try harder - makes my 7 odds on the dining room radiatior look pathetic. Will someone please tell me where I'm going wrong? :rotfl:
  • When my kids were all at home all the clean socks went into a huge bag & Sunday evening was sock sorting time, you either helped or wore odd socks.
