there is a load in the WM that has been there since yesterday AM - it will need doing again really as will be really smelly
took dgs3 to maccyd for lunch as I couldn't be ***sed to do something nutritious (the only one of my five a day today was the gherkin in my big mac - does that count)
there is a huuuuuuuge box of stuff on the sofa that needs sorting and taking to other rooms
i tipped food waste into the bin cos it was to cold to trek .... ooooh at least 1.5 metres to the compost bin

all the above could sort of be excused if it wasnt for the fact that in the last week I have spent at least 50 hours cross stitching and am now sitting watching a mighty boosh night instead of getting on with it

Cross stitching is not a leisure activity. It is a relatively cheap method of making uniqure/irreplacable/personal/priceless presents for deserving recipients. So it's a valid money saving activity. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

On the down side, I don't think the guerkin will count (sorry!).

Don't mention the dirty laundry, the ironing, the dusting, the washing up or cleaning the bathroom. But it's OK to mention the vacuuming - that is my OH's job so I don't feel guilty. :rotfl:

I've never understood why I'm too exhaused to vacuum, iron, dust and clean the lavatory, yet the moment the sun starts shining I'm full of energy and enthusiam to be outside sowing and planting my veggie seeds and pottering in the vegetable patch! I guess that because I'm doing something creative for which I will see (and be able to eat) the end result. Housework is just so mind numbing.

In my fruitbowl I have 4 oranges, one of which is looking rather sad, 3 apples, one of which will be indedible, two birthday candles in the shape of 70 (unopened, and it was my dad's birthday in March)! a little tray for making ice cubes for a freezer we no longer have and a black marker pen.

    5) ...I don't make my own preserves - we only use a couple of jars of jam a year so I buy some good stuff from the local farmshop - I don't need to make any pickles or chutneys - my Mum makes them instead and keeps us well supplied - OH really loves her runner bean chutney :) Do I win any brownie points back for at least making home made liquers like sloe gin and blackberry vodka *if there was a hopeful looking smiley I'd insert it here*...

..... but I'm sat loitering on MSE instead :D:D:D ...

Lots and lots of brownie points for the liquers.

Am also guilty as charged on the loitering front. Stitching is glaring at me, muttering 'you've nearly finished me, get cracking and I could be in the frame by tomorrow'. I am ignoring it! :p

... My ironing has backed up so much, I am currently storing it in black bags (note the plural bags - there are five people in this house) in the conservatory...

Have been storing excess dirty laundry in black bags - didn't manage to get it to the ironing stage yet as it is non-essential items ie not uniform or day to day slobbing it gear. For at least the last 3 months. And there are only 2 of us.

But, silver lining!!! Have created less dirty laundry because the stack of outstanding laundry is blocking the wardrobes which discourages using clean clothes!! Isn't Febreze wonderful stuff? :o

Just cleaned out another cupboard and thrown stuff away dated 2006! ...
Had some stuff in the cupboard a few months ago. Well, what I should say is it was in the cupboard until a few months ago. It was actually in the cupboard for much longer and I kept meaning to get round to using it. I looked at the BBDs and justified ignoring them partly because they were mostly dried stuff and was going through a particularly bad patch when could hardly afford to eat. So I finally took the plunge and tried the suet. Made a steak suet pudding (no, not 'expensive' steak but a cheap tin of stewed steak). Found it to be a false economy. The suet crust smelled a bit dodgy but we dubiously gave it a go. After one mouthful we threw it away before we were poisoned. The flavour was strong, chemical-like and affected anything it was close to. Not surprising really. The BBD was 2002!!!   Have since chucked out the other items(!!!)

What a great thread! I'm normal!
    My fruit bowl contains:
a bunch of red wrinkly grapes
a bunch of green wrinkly grapes
2 apples which really shouldn't be eaten

I've moved my pile of paperwork - bills and the like - to my filing cabinet (wardrobe shelf) where they will get sorted........eventually. Usually ends up when OH is in a clearing out mode (not very often) and then ends up seeing what I've really spent! ooops!

I had a tax rebate and I spent it on an Omlet Cube.
But it's worth it. It's beautiful, it's easy to clean, and the hens are gorgeous.

Oh, and when I was shopping in Waitrose yesterday, a bottle of Method cleaner fell into my trolley. It's the first time in two years I've bought (and used) ready made cleaner. What's worse is: I really like it and when this bottle has gone I suspect another bottle will fall in my trolley.

People don't advocate the use of tumble driers because they are expensive to use, however I disagree.
You don't need as many clothes to wear, so there is a major saving and you don't need to use an iron,(they are probably expensive to use), if you take them out of the dryer carefully. This gives you much more time to do what you want, and as we all know, time is money.
Also you don't need to spend money on bin bags piling the washing into before you iron it.
If you are really thrifty, you can put thicker stuff outside on the line to part dry, and finish them off in a dryer thus cutting the cost a bit.
    What does anyone else think?
