Closure Of Natwest Account No Reason Given

Apologies if I missed it but I didn't see anywhere that you had directly asked if the OP had reclaimed any bank charges from Natwest...I understand that some banks do close accounts on anyone who reclaims bank charges, citing "commercial reasons" as expressed by natweststaffmember above. Again though, sorry if I missed it.0

nope had not any cheques returned unpaind not even used cheque book i actually had 3 accounts with them 2 of which had not been used and they are closing them as well ,and no i havnt applied for any charges back ,still not got the letter from the natwest either telling me they are going to close the account and had to make a further complaint today as my calls had not been logged at all ,its all a bit cloak and dagger0

the question must be, have you got your credit file as suggested earlier? The decision is non negotiable regardless of anything. It is worth your energies trying to get a new bank account than arguing whether a letter/phonecall was logged.
I leave this one I think because advice and potential reasons have been given and the decision has already been made by the bank.0 -
i recieved letter from natwest yesterday telling me my account would be closed in 10 days and from info i have heard recently they are trying to close customers accounts who are on benefits, despite the government saying everyone is entitled to a bank account. It is now in the hands of the ombudsman who agree the natwest have not abided by the code of conduct .0

Try Alliance and Leicester, my ex has opend an account with them and she is on benefits.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

How? Can you please explain.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

The latter reason means a letter is sent out stating this and all cards are withdrawn and any balance remaining ie positive balance will be given to you. The bank are within their rights to close an account and the "commercial reason" while not exactly eye opening is non negotiable. By all means take it further but the account will not be re opened once the decision is made.
We do close dormant accounts btw, but not after a year or any letter being sent to you asking if you still want to keep the account.
Your post has just reminded me that I have a current account with the Halkifax which I haven't used for at least 5 years. According to my credit file it's still active and I've not received any mail from them for this lenght of time. Is this normal?Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

How? Can you please explain.
If it was their policy why would they have opened the account in the first place?
I don't think we will see the reason why until at least OP has got hold of a copy of her credit files.0 -
Will the OP be able to open an account with another bank? This is what would be worrying me if I was her.0
