Arghhh my wm is driving me around the bend!!!

Please don't move this post as I would like the opinion of fellow OS, thanks:D

My Zanussi washing machine is once again being repaired. It's almost 5 years old and it has been repaired about 3 times per year. It is under a Mastercare warranty agreement which I also do not rate as they don't come out and repair it easily. They usually don't have the correct parts for it and I then have to wait another week for them to return, or worse still they have taken it into their workshop 3 times to repair it!

So I'm going to buy a new one. It's the second Zanussi I've owned and I'd like to buy a different make. So I need some valued OS opinions on the other wm makes. My mum raves about her Hotpoint and a couple of fellow OS on the daily thread have recommended AEG and Bosch.

So which wm do you recommend, thanks. :D

ive got a hotpoint and (famous last words) not had any trouble with it!

I went for a washer only as chatting to a few of the guys at work they figured if its only supposed to do one job ( ie washing) how can it do two properly( ie drying as well)

so figured Id keep things simple

mind I must like hotpoint cos without releasing Ive got hotpoint cooker, fridge and freezer LOL the only one that was deliberate was the washing machine

I have had 3 wm in the past 14 years the first was a phillips/zannussi it was ok the next I had a hotpoint what a nightmare there was a problem with them and I had to have 4 new drums in 2 years because of the fault until they sorted it the latest one is a bosch and is the best one I've had so personally I would go with bosch
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

My mu always said don't buy Candy. So my recommendation is anything but Candy.

  • I have a Hotpoint... and I am really sorry to say I would not recommend, previously we had an Indesit (funnily enough Indesit and Hotpoint are the same company now) and they were both dire machines (after about 3 months problems started)

Although we are a 5 person household so WM never seems to be off

All I can say that my auntie has had a Bosch machine for over 7 years with no problems I have had 3 machines in that time

I have a Hotpoint and it the worst machine I have ever come across. I actually said hello to the engineer when I saw him in Tescos because I feel like I know him!

When I replace it I will be getting a Bosch or AEG anything but Hotpoint

My dh fixes washing machines as part of his job, and wouldn't let me buy anything with a digital display as he said when they go wrong, one component on the control panel can often cost more than replacing the whole control panel.

We bought a plain and simple Creda, and so far, so good. It started squeaking about 6 months ago (it was 5 years old last Christmas) and dh said the springs on one side had gone. He replaced the springs on both sides at a total cost of £6.

The repair man has just fixed my wm and he recommended a Bosch or AEG and not a Hotpoint.

    Don't get a hotpoint!!They are just junk!

Bosch and AEG are the bestest but pricey.. failing that I've had 4 zanussis in the last 8 years and never really had a bit of bother!

 Four washing machines in eight years!

    I've only ever owned two.

My hotpoint washer/drier lasted over twelve years and countless house moves.

I have a Bosch now and thats over thirteen years old.

Another vote for Bosch. Had an AEG that was nothing but trouble although my first WM was a Zanussi that lasted a good few years (but that was years ago now!). AEG/Zanussi/Electrolux are all under the Electrolux umbrella as far as I know.

Only gripe about my Bosch machine is that it is quite noisy but I think from reading other posts that that is quite usual.
