To prevent this happening in future don't have a savings account with any bank you owe money to, open a savings account elsewhere.

So, you've got twenty eight and a half thousand pounds worth of unsecured debt which you weren't repaying and the problem was caused by the fact that Halifax took 699 pounds from your savings account?
    Mmmm.

I was paying the repayments from the savings in the account which I would have kept up with if they hadnt taken the money and given me the wrong advice in the first place.all the other loans and credit cards are up to date!!!

    Not lecturing here,

    but...

Why did you even have savings when you have 28.5k of debt?
  • I don't think Cazducky needs lecturing or told off for her comments in the post.

She is simply saying that she arranged the repayment of her debt on the information that was given to her by an employee of the bank - she didn't say she wasn't paying it, just taking a 'holiday' as is offered from a few banks.

Also, the fact that she had savings - maybe she this was a savings account to pay for annual bills ie - car insurance, an MOT, christmas etc.

She is only looking to let off steam and get some advice on her problem

Cazducky - I'm sure if you went to citizens advice they might be able to help you. from past experience, your account should have a note saying who you spoke to and what information they gave you. If you know what date you spoke them then they should be able to read what that person put down - ask for a copy of this.

They can't leave you with nothing in your bank account - you need to eat and pay bills. Get your MP or papers involved if they don't help.

Can i ask why your not getting paid till May? Surly this can't be right. How can acompany expect you to work for about 8/9 weeks without pay

thanks headoutthesand, you were right,I was using the savings to pay the repayments and day to day bills. and the bank agreed to give me back £200.00 pounds untilI get paid. The company is one that I worked for for 9 yrs so Iknow that I have to work a month in advance and the pay is put through on th 18th of the month,soI worked it out to be end of may, I think thats right.I have applied to cccs for a dmp and written to my debtors and explained the situation.I would have been ok till I got paid if they hadnt given me the wrong advice and taken that money.I was totally up to date till then and never been in debt in my life. And the reason i am in this debt was because my relationship brokeup and I couldnt get housing from the council so I borrowed the money and bought a mobile home to livein. At least I am not on the streets!!

    Have you gone mad?

You are living from paycheck to paycheck and have 28K debt and bought a mobile home?

    WHAT IS WRONG WITH RENTING?

This smells of a wind up - No one can be that foolish

I couldnt get private rented accomodation as I have pets and private landlords dont allow them and I live in uk, the rent is atrocious. I bought the home to live in, thats why I am in debt!!!!!!! I am 51 and never had any debts in my life until 2 yrs ago and I kept up the repayments until I was made redundant!!!! and also, I kept up with the repayments even though I wasnt working. From my savings!!!!!
    give me a break!!!

OMG i can not believe peoples post here WE ALL MAKE ERRORS dont be so judgemental

as an idea Caz can you see your local government in regards to a crisis loan to live on, im not sure if you have been claiming but i also believe if you have been claiming any benefits you could be entitled to a one off payment ( not sure if this is still inforce but worth looking into)

I understand the concepts of cooking and cleaning
........ I Just dont understand how they apply to me!
