What i mean is i wear mine all the time apart from bed time. I now take it off at work in the mornings as i clean and noticed it was dulling underneath, i know no one else can see it but i can!! is this normal? it is white gold and from a lovely jewellers who hand makes them. It has scratched very slightly aswell as i caught it against our garage wall when we moved in!and wonder what on earth it will be like when we marry in 7 months!! I love it though!!

I think white gold does commonly need to be redipped periodically - ask at your local jeweller see how much it will cost. hthGot Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!

Yeah I got told this when I was looking for my engagement ring. I didnt like the idea of getting it redipped all the time so I opted for Platinum.
Getting it redipped doesnt cost a lot though so I would just enquireMaybe the place you got it from offers a discount?

Yes white gold will change colour... Mine was pretty filthy too so have had it cleaned ready for the wedding
Mine is 18 carat so softer than the 9 carat not sure if it looses colour slower but in 16 months I haven't noticed it loosing colour... yes it's dulled a little but I think most rings will...

I've had my engagement ring cleaned and replated a few times for free by the lovely goldsmith who made it to our design.
I would suggest going back there (if it's still nearby!) and asking about this. Otherwise many places do this for a very low cost.
I wear mine all the time, and the difference when it's cleaned it staggering! It's like the first moment you ever try it on!

I got mine redone just before the wedding. Its 18ct white gold and has lots of scratches and dents in it. Ive been married 10 months now and already its in a bit of a state so I will prob get it redone every year or so, depending on how much money I have as my wedding ring could do with it too and its about £30 each.

Hi there - mine is OK but I clean it with some gel that the jewellers gave me. Keeps it sparkling! I keep telling the OH he needs to buy me a new one to make up for it.....!!0

Mine's 18ct yellow gold and 18 months old - wedding is in October! It's still in pretty good nick, I clean the diamond with a soft toothbrush every so often - and take it off if I'm doing anything really mucky!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

I only got mine christmas eve and it's looking well worn already lol.
Will probably get it redipped a couple of weeks before the wedding so it looks all shiney next to my new wedding ring...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
