To anyone with experience with Writers Share before it went down ... were the topics closed for this long when comments were being approved etc.

If so, then surely the days we actually have to write will be serverely limited to about 2 or 3 days a week if this is the norm.

Comments were not closed while they were approved. They stayed open until they had enough comments for that topic then it was closed.

Obviously now there are more of us using the site they can't do both, and make payments.

We can do nothing but wait.

Joe, some of the topics were closed as they had enough comments, but some stayed open right until the site closed altogether.

I know this because I had written about 10 at the time they closed all teh comments.

The editor cuts out the extra spaces, so you have to use full stops instead. Ignore my font, I was checking to see if one was a fixed width font.

Im just thinking out loud here, but if we can keep some reasonable stats, we will be able to see what our comments success rates are.

As its been pointed out by geordie joe earlier in the post, will our survival rate go down because we have so many users ?

I've received one acceptance email for the last comment that I did. Most of the others I did were just after the site was up and running again. No payments yet either.

i think people get confused as to what the 80% means. they don't divide every topic up, and then the 'not as good' 20% don't get paid for. you get PAID for every good one, regardless of whether it's in the top or bottom band. as long as they can sell it on, then they'll use it.

the reason they say 80% is that's roughly how many they've accepted over the past, it's a rough guideline showing you how likely you are to have a comment approved. to entice you to write more.

they'll leave the topics open 'til they receive lets say 200 replies. in that case, they might think that 20 are rubbish, and in that instance it would be 90% acceptance. whereas in another one, they might get 400 replies, and 200 would be rubbish and unusable, so the rate for that one would be 50% etc etc

at least, that's how i see it.

That's what I meant, the only reason for closing topics before the site went down was because they had enough comments.

I know they closed them all when the site went down, but if it hadn't gone down they would have kept them open until they had enough comments.

you get PAID for every good one, regardless of whether it's in the top or bottom band. as long as they can sell it on, then they'll use it.

The way I see it is, when they had few people commenting they were accepting 80% of them. Now they have a lot more comments they may not accept 80% of them.

    Example;

They needed 8 comments and got 10, they accepted the best 8 and rejected the other 2. This means they accepted 80%.

Now they have a lot more people posting comments it could be that they STILL need 8 comments for a topic but get 100.

Before the site went down I saw them close 2 topic because they had the required 4 comments.

The simple question is, can they sell every good comment they get, or do they still just require a certain number.

Or, to put it another way, has the number of comments they can sell increased as fast as the number of comments they are getting?
